Junior Madison Hart of Burlington, freshman Sha’Lynn Clarke of Glassboro and freshman Emily Rooney of Cinnaminson each scored wins for the Rowan women’s track team Saturday at the season-opening Diplomat Open.
Hart, who graduate from Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville, won the 400, Clarke the 800 and Rooney the 1,000 at Franklin & Marsyall’s Schnader Fieldhouse in Lancaster, Pa.
Hart won the 400-meter dash in 1:02.37 over Millersville freshman Lyric Williams, who was second in 1:03.04. Hart was Mid-Atlantic Conference runner-up last winter with an indoor-PR 59.87 at Widener as a freshman at Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa., outside Scranton. She has an outdoor PR of 58.73 from the outdoor Mid-Atlantic meet at Lehigh’s Rauch Fieldhouse.
In her collegiate debut and also her first lifetime indoor race, Clarke won the 800 in a near-PR 2:24.68 by nearly two seconds over Franklin & Marshall freshman Sydney Dzenutis, who ran 2:26.96. Clarke has a PR of 2:24.27 from Group 1 sectionals last spring.
Rooney won the 1,000-meter run in 3:16.54 by nearly two seconds over Lebanon Valley sophomore Julia Resele. It was her first college race and also her first lifetime attempt at the 1,000-meter distance.
