Deptford’s Kareem Brown races into all-time South Jersey 400 hurdles top-10 with huge Meet of Champions race!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deptford senior Kareem Brown moved into the all-time South Jersey top-10 in the 400-meter hurdles with a huge race Wednesday at the Meet of Champions at Pennsauken.

Brown placed 2nd in 52.28, 9th-fastest in South Jersey history and 3rd-fastest on the all-time Gloucester County list behind Fred Sharpe of Paulsboro in 1997 and Washington Township’s Tim Carey in 2009. So fastest 400IH time by a Gloucester County runner in 17 years.

Brown lowered his PR from 53.07 from the state Group 3 meet at Northern Burlington and broke the school record of 52.65 set by Lathan Brown at the 2023 Meet of Champions in Somerset.

Kasey Kinsley of Hunterdon Central won the race in 51.91, breaking the Hunterdon County record of 52.35 set by Hunterdon Central’s Jameson Woodell at the 2018 Meet of Champions at Northern Burlington.

Brown’s 52.28 is also 8th-fastest ever by a South Jersey intermediate hurdler at the Meet of Champions.

Kingsway senior Max Dyer ran a PR and Kingsway school-record 54.84 in 12th place, Northern Burlington junior Chandler Richardson was just behind him in 54.95, Egg Harbor junior Xavier Auceule ran a PR 55.48 for 14th and Buena junior Malik Smith PR’d at 56.07 for 16th.
