Palmyra graduate Abdulazeez Iyiola won his 3rd conference title and PR’d in the 110-meter hurdles Saturday at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships in Emmitsburg, Md.
Iyiola, a Mount St. Mary’s sophomore from Beverly, ran 14.27 at Morgan Track, lowering his PR from 14.39, which he just ran two weeks ago in Louisville. The race was wind-legal with a 0.9 tailwind.
Iyiola also won the 400-meter hurdles last spring at Lawrenceville in 54.12 and was 2nd in the 110 highs, and he won the 60-meter highs indoors in 8.24 at the Armory. He’ll race in the 400 hurdles final later Saturday.
Iyiola’s 14.27 is No. 4 in Mount history behind Richard Gilchrest [13.76 in 2023], Robert Ekpete [13.93 in 1984] and Julian Woods [14.17 in 2017].
