Natalie Dumas found another event to excel in. The Eastern senior, already top-10 in U.S. history in the 400, 800 and 400 hurdles, moved into the top 10 in South Jersey history Thursday in the 200, wher she set her third meet record in two days.
Dumas capped a quad win at the Olympic Conference Championships at Rancocas Valley by winning the 200 in 23.85, 7th-fastest in South Jersey history and No. 12 in state history. She broke the meet record of 24.16 set at the 2017 meet at Washington Township by Winslow Township’s Shakira Dancy.
Dumas rarely runs the 200 and her previous PR was a 24.02 from the state Group 4 meet at Pennsauken last May.
Dumas also won the 800 in 2:14.85, the 400 in a meet-record 54.08 and the intermediates in a meet-record 59.35. In the 400, she broke the meet record of 54.91 set in 2009 by Seneca’s Michelle Brown at Pennsauken. She broke the 400IH record of 1:00.6 hand-timed by Mandie Dulin of Shawnee in 1997 at Overbrook.
The 800 was the only event she missed the meet record. Cherokee’s Nicole Clifford set the meet record at the 2022 meet at Washington Township with a 2:11.52. Triton’s Claudine Evangelista also ran faster in both 1998 at Overbrook [2:14.1] and 2000 at Rowan [2:14.3].
Dumas is the first quad winner at the Olympic Conference meet in 12 years, since Cidae’a Woods of Winslow won the 100 in 12.06, the 100-meter hurdles in 14.16, the long jump at 19-1 ½ and the triple jump at 37-7 ¼ at the 2014 meet at Washington Township.
