The Audubon girls ran the fastest sprint medley ever by a New Jersey Group 1 school at Woodbury Saturday and the fastest distance medley by a Group 1 in 10 years.
Juniors Sophia Rizzo and Kathryn McGuire and seniors Kylie Tocco and Riley Fayer ran a meet-record 4:09.67 in the sprint med at the Woodbury Relays, breaking the meet record of 4:16.78 set in 2014 by Penns Grove.
The fastest previous Group 1 sprint medley by a New Jersey school was Metuchen’s 4:11.93 at 2014 Armory Nationals.
Rizzo ran 1:00.90, the 200 splits totalled 51.86 and Fayer anchored in 2:16.92. Only Winslow in Group 3 [4:01.75] and Eastern in Group 4 [4:08.28] ran faster than Audubon Saturday.
Audubon’s time is No. 13 in Camden County history.
The Green Wave DMR team was also anchored by Fayer, who split 5:01.87 and gave Audubon the fastest South Jersey Group 1 time in 27 years.
Audubon won the race in 12:28.78, destroying the Group 1 meet record of 12:52.10 set by Pitman in 2015.
This one took a ton of research so please let me know if you find any errors in this post.
That’s the fastest DMR time by any New Jersey Group 1 school in 10 years.
Audubon’s time is 3rd-fastest by a South Jersey Group 1 all-time and fastest since Haddonfield ran 12:23.26 with Holly Cosnet, Mary Mullholland, Erin O’Donnell and Erin Donohue ran 12:23.26 at the Ike Willis Relays in Glassboro. Haddonfield ran 12:21.45 at the 1998 East Coast Relays in Morristown. Haddonfield ran faster several other years when it was a Group 2, but Audubon’s time is 3rd-fastest by a school that was in Group 1 the year it ran it.
Audubon’s 12:28.78 is fastest by any New Jersey Group 1 since 2016, when New Providence ran 12:27.81 at the Union County Championships in Westfield. Metuchen is listed on Milesplit as a Group 1 running 11:57.17 at the 2022 Penn Relays, but they were actually in Group 2 in 2022.
Camm led off with a 3:52.79 for 1,200 meters, Ava Lebb ran 62.92 for the 400, Isabella Legatie split 2:31.21 and Fayer finished it off with an evenly paced anchor leg – out in 2:29.81 and back in 2:32.09.
Overall, Audubon is 6th-fastest in New Jersey this year in the DMR and No. 3 in South Jersey, behind Cherokee [12:20.00] and Ocean City [12:22.97]. The time is No. 17 on the all-time Camden County list.
