Iowa junior Jailya Ash equalled her hurdles PR Saturday when she won the 100-meter highs at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational at Percy Beard Track at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Ash ran 13.29 with a legal wind of 0.0, 3rd-fastest this year in the Big Ten Conference and fastest by an underclassman.
Ash equalled her PR set when she competed for U.Conn at a home meet in Storrs in March 2024. That stands as U.Conn’s school record.
Ash’s 13.29 is 5th-fastest ever recorded by a South Jersey woman. It’s No. 32 among U.S. women this spring.
It’s also No. 5 all-time all-time at Iowa and fastest since Winslow’s Tionna Tobias ran 13.11 at 2023 NCAA West Prelims in Sacramento.
This was only Ash’s 2nd 100-meter hurdles race since she transferred from Connecticut to Iowa.
