We have our first outdoor result of the year!
Delsea graduate Jake Nwosu, a sophomore at Army West Point, threw 164-9 and placed 5th in the discus at the Beach Opener 2023 at Jack Rose Track in Long Beach, Calif.
Nwosu only got off two legal throws – a 162-2 on his 1st attempt and the 164-9 on his 4th – but still missed his PR by less than four feet. Nwosu has a lifetime best of 168-8 from the West Point Twilight last April.
Nwosu did PR in the hammer throw with a 163-3 for 11th place. His previous PR was a 157-4 from the Lehigh Invite in Bethlehem last April.
Despite losing his senior year to COVID, Nwosu threw 173-3 at Delsea when he won Group 2 sectionals at Delesea in 2019 on his way to the state Group 2 title.
