Cinnaminson junior Derrick Robinson soared over the bar at 6-6 in the SJTCA meet Saturday at the Bubble, the No. 1 mark in the state this year.
Robinson broke his PR of 6-4, which he just set two weeks ago at the Merli Invitational at the Bubble. Robinson had a PR of 5-10 just seven months ago before clearing 6-2 at the state Group 2 meet last spring at Franklin High School. He cleared 6-4 for the first time two weeks ago before his breakthrough performance Saturday.
Robinson already owned the Cinnaminson school record. It was previously shared by several jumpers who cleared 6-2. Outdoors, Max DiLeo cleared 6-8 at Group 2 states in 2011 at South Plainfield. DiLeo went on to play basketball for King Rice at Monmouth and also played professionally in Europe.
With his 6-6 clearance, Robinson equalled the No. 11 jump in Burlington County history. He’s the first Burlington County junior over 6-6 since Willingboro’s Nate Robertson in 2019.
