The all-time DREAM Park boys and girls performance lists!!!!!

This will be the third year South Jersey sectionals will be held at DREAM Park in Logan Township, but the course has been used for various conference and county meets since 2018.

With sectionals scheduled for this weekend, we thought we’d take a stab at an all-time DREAM Park performance list, using 16:30 and 20 minutes as cut-offs.

As always, shoot us corrections and additions. This is a work in progress!

Madeline Dischert becomes Atlantic City’s first overall winner, Ocean City wins team title at Cape-Atlantic!!!!!

Madeline Dischert became Atlantic City’s first Cape-Atlantic Conference XC champion Tuesday at Stockton.

Dischert ran 19:03 over the 5,000-meter Stockton University course in Galloway Township, followed by a pack of five Ocean City girls. Dischert finished about 90 meters ahead of Ocean City sophomore Maeve Smith, who was 2nd in 19:24.

Ocean City finished with a 20-77 margin of victory over Cedar Creek, which recorded its best finish ever. Middle Township edged Atlantic County Tech of Mays Landing 97-103 for 3rd place.

The title was the second this fall for Dischert, who didn’t begin running XC until her junior year. She beat a loaded field over 3,200 meters in the senior race at the Cherokee Challenge last month.

Ocean City packed its five scorers in 55 seconds, with junior Frankie Ritzel taking 3rd overall in 20:35, sophomore Chloe Care 4th in 20:37, senior Grace McAfee 5th in 21:16 and freshman Gabrielle Henry 6th in 21:19.

Seniors Abby Inserra and Cheryl Connell also placed in the top 10, Inserra 9th in 21:41 and Connell 10th in 21:58.

Junior Riley Lerner led Cedar Creek in 7th place in 21:26 and Hammonton sophomore Natalie Clauhs ran 21:40 for 8th.

Nick Scarangelli, Matt Hoffman go 1-2, lead Ocean City to 4th straight CAL triumph!!!!!

Senior Nick Scarangelli and junior Matt Hoffman finished 1-2 to lead Ocean City to its 4th straight Cape-Atlantic Conference Championship title Tuesday.

Scarangelli ran 16:18 and Hoffman 16:37 over 5,000 meters at Stockton University in Galloway Township and recorded the first 1-2 CAL finish since 2015, when Ocean City’s Patrick Cusack and Even Schmeizer went 1-2 in Ocean City’s win at Motorports Park in Millville.

Ocean City went 1-2-6-7-10, placing all five scorers in the top-10 and outscoring the field, 26-29.

Atlantic County Tech of Mays Landing placed second with 109 points, edging Mainland [127] and Atlantic City [132].

For the Red Raiders, senior Chris Sardy took 6th and sophomore Ethan Buck 7th, both in 17:13, and sophomore Kal Heyman ran 10th in 17:43.

Ocean City’s 6th and 7th runners both broke 18 minutes as well, senior Colin Abbott 13th and sophomore Sam Ritti 14th, both in 17:58. The Raiders had seven across the line before any other school had three across the line.

Cedar Creek junior Matthew Winterbottom ran 16:43 and edged Atlantic City senior Adonis Hernandez for 3rd. Hernandez ran 16:51 for 4th.

Also in the top 10 were Lower Cape May senior Jack Cura [5th in 17:03], Holy Spirit senior John Flammer [8th in 17:15] and Mainland senior Elliot Post [9th in 17:24].

Atlantic County Tech placed second as a team without a runner in the top 10. Senior Joseph Spilker ran 17:53 for 11th, and sophomore Thomas Wodajak and junior Shawn Tamanini placed 20th and 21st in 18:32 and 18:32.

Macie McCracken wins 2nd straight title, Ocean City wins 12th straight team title at Cape May County!!!!!

Wildwood sophomore Macie McCracken was the overall winner and then Ocean City packed its five scorers from 2nd through 6th in a 59-second pack to win its 12th consecutive Cape May County title.

McCracken ran 18:45 over the 5,000-meter course at the Cape May County Zoo in Middle Township. That’s the fastest time on the course since Alexa Weber of Ocean City ran 18:44 to win the 2017 race.

The county title was the 2nd in a row for McCracken, who ran 19:29 last year. She’s Wildwood’s only individual winner since the girls meet was added in 1985.

Ocean City, ranked No. 9 in the state, has won every county title since 2009, when Wildwood Catholic went 1-2-3 behind Tara Wuko, Kayla Noll and Chrissy Casiello and edged Ocean City 30-32. There was no meet held in 2020.

The Red Raiders were led by Maeve Smith and Chloe Care, who both broke 19 minutes and finished 2nd and 3rd, making it a 1-2-3 finish for the Class of 2025.

They were followed closely by senior Olivia Palmieri, junior Frankie Ritzel and senior Grace McAfee, who placed 4th, 5th and 6th in 20:14, 20:17 and 20:25. Freshman Gabrielle Henry and senior Abby Inserra ran 20:59 and 21:17 and placed 7th and 9th for the Raiders, giving Ocean City seven runners in the top nine.

Sophomore Leiah Pawlus gave Wildwood two finishers in the top 10. Pawlus ran 21:14 and placed 8th. Middle Township senior Sofia Jurusz ran 21:17 for 10th.

Alex Boyko, Matt McCarron, Patrick Storti sweep lifts Cinnaminson to Liberty Division title!!!!!

Seniors Alex Boyko, Matt McCarron and Patrick Storti swept the top three spots and Cinnaminson raced to the BCSL Liberty Division title Wednesday at New Egypt.

It was the first 1-2-3 in the Burlington County Scholastic League Liberty Division meet in 17 years, since Moorestown swept the top three spots in the 2005 race with Ben Leonberg, Eric Holaday and Daniel Reinhart.

But more recently, Cinnaminson went 1-2-3 in the 2018 meet in the Patriot Division with Austin Gabay, Zach Walton and Michael Gorman and again last year with Boyko, McCarron and Tyler Schill. There isn’t currently a Patriot Division because of the recent BCSL realignment following the departures of Rancocas Valley and Moorestown.

Boyko ran 15:22, McCarron 15:37 and Storti 16:24. Boyko and McCarren are the first teammates under 16 minutes at New Egypt since 2013, when Northern Burlington’s Harrison Scott and Chris Martin ran 15:32 and 15:34.

Cinnaminson placed its five scorers in the top seven and outscored 2nd-place Pennsauken, 19-51. The Pirates averaged 16:16 on the fast, flat New Egypt 5,000-meter course, which has been used for the BCSL meet most years since 2004.

Seniors Ryan Coceano and Dean Clark were Cinnaminson’s 4th and 5th runners, Coceano in 6th in 16:53 and Clark in 7th in 17:03.

Pennsauken was led by senior Joel Oquendo [4th in 16:38] and junior Ladanian McGrath [5th in 16:43], with senior Nouman Farhat [10th in 17:24] also in the top 10.

Others in the top 10 were Northern sophomores Colin Brennan [8th in 17:20] and Caleb Weiderholt [9th in 17:23].

Washington Township grad Chris Shaw takes 2nd in Atlantic City Marathon!!!!!

Chris Shaw, a former Washington Township High School runner, placed second in the Atlantic City Marathon Sunday afternoon.

The 21-year-old Shaw ran 2:42.05 and finished behind only Bryan Morseman of Wheeler, N.Y., who ran 2:32.12.

From everything I can tell, this was Shaw’s first career marathon.

That 2:42 is well under the Boston Marathon qualifying standard of 3:00 for those in the 18-34 age group. Next year’s race is April 17, 2023.

Shaw graduated from Washington Township in 2019. He was No. 2 runner on the 2018 Minutemen XC team and placed 27th at sectionals at Delsea in 16:51. On the track, he PR’d at 3,200 meters at the Bubble in Toms River with a 9:59.57 in January of 2018.

Shaw ran two years at Stockton University and placed 12th in the 2020 New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships at Stockton in 27:34.

His marathon pace Sunday – 6:11 per mile – was only 38 seconds per mile slower than that pace for 8,000 meters – in a race that’s 21 ¼ miles shorter.

We wrote most recently about Shaw after this Stockton-meet in the spring of 2021: https://sjtrackblog.com/2021/03/06/daniel-do-stephen-conte-chris-shaw-lead-stockon-to-sweep-in-first-xc-meet-in-16-months/

Colton Delcollo picks up the win and leads Cumberland Regional to county title!!!!!

Colton Delcollo recorded the first major win of his XC career when he ran away from the field at the Cumberland County Championships on Friday on his home course in Upper Deerfield.

Delcollo ran 17:17 and finished 115 meters ahead of Millville sophomore Arjun Patel, who was 2nd in 17:42.

Delcollo led all seven Colt runners in the top 14. Senior Ethan Turner placed 3rd in 18:33, and junior Kaden Riley was 4th in 18:38. Senior Sean Henry [7th in 18:41] and sophomore Ben Cogit [10th in 19:38] rounded out Cumberland’s scoring group. They were backed up by soph Evan Turner [11th in 19:38] and freshman Joell Bryant [14th in 20:33].

Cumberland outscored Millville 24-36 to win its first title since 2019. The meet wasn’t held in 2020 and Millville won last year.

Also in the top 10 were Millville senior Jose Bravo [5th in 18:39], Millville freshman Tim Robbins [6th in 18:40], Bridgeton junior Bryan Hernandez [8th in 19:16] and Vineland senior Sebastian Mercado [9th in 19:34].

Peyton Shute smashes course record, Haddonfield packs 5 in top 10 at Colonial Conference Championships!!!!!

Peyton Shute shattered the West Deptford Park course record by 20 seconds with an all-course lifetime 5,000 PR, and Haddonfield packed five scorers in the top 10 to win the team title at the Colonial Conference Championships.

Shute, a junior at Woodbury, ran 15:24, breaking the course record of 15:44 set last year by Kingsway’s Kyle Rakitis at the Gloucester County Championships.

Shute’s previous all-course PR was a 15:28 at Group 2 sectionals last fall at DREAM Park in Logan Township, where he was 2nd to Haddonfield’s Seth Clevenger.

So far this year, Shute has not lost to any South Jersey runners. His only non-win in a competitive race was at Shore Coaches, where he was 4th behind Union Catholic’s Jimmy Wischusen and Brian and Collin Boler of Delbarton.

For Haddonfield, senior George Andrus led the way in 2nd place in 15:47, which is No. 3 in course history behind Shute and Rakitis.

Senior Robert DiMedio [5th in 16:19], senior Donald Jellig [7th in 16:29], senior Ian Romea [8th in 16:31] and junior Matthew Sullivan [10th in 16:49] also scored for the Bulldogs, who finished with a 32-59 margin of victory over 2nd-place Haddon Heights.

Heights was led by seniors Colin Patterson and Jack Bolling in 3rd and 4th in 15:48 and 16:16. Also in the top 10 were Collingswood junior Elijah Forrest [6th in 16:21] and Audubon junior Aiden Williams [9th in 16:35].

Ava Thomas finishes 1st & Haddonfield girls average 19:13 at West Deptford in Colonial Conference triumph!!!!!!

Three Haddonfield girls broke 19 minutes, the Bulldogs’ five scorers averaged 19:13 at West Deptford Park and Haddonfield raced to the Colonial Conference title Thursday.

Haddonfield went 1-2-3-4-5 to win last year’s meet and only one girl from that race was in Haddonfield’s top-5 this year.

It looks like Haddonfield has never lost this meet in years where official team scoring has been kept.

Junior Ava Thomas, freshman Riley Austin, junior Audrey Naticchia and senior Helene Usher swept the top four spots, Thomas running 18:43, Austin 18:49, Naticchia 18:51 and Usher 19:17. Sophomore Dylan Melcher and junior Sarah Fetter both ran 20:27 for 8th and 9th.

Haddonfield finished with an 18-59 margin of victory over 2nd-place Haddon Heights. Sterling [79] and Haddon Township [87] were next.

Also in the top 10 were Haddon Heights senior Ava Severino [5th, 19:37], Haddon Township senior Meghan Lex [6th, 19:43], Haddon Township junior Genevieve Gentlesk [7th, 20:14] and Sterling sophomore Cara Coppolino [10th, 10:38].

Haddonfield is ranked No. 2 in New Jersey and No. 3 in the Northeast Region by Milesplit.

Liliah Gordon breaks own course record, races Northern Burlington to 2nd straight Liberty Division team title!!!!!!

Liliah Gordon has raced at New Egypt twice, she’s broken the course record twice and she’s led Northern Burlington to a conference championship twice.

On Wednesday, a year after Gordon led NBC to its first BCSL Liberty Division title in meet history with a course-record 18:03 as a freshman over New Egypt’s 5,000-meter course, Gordon ran 17:56 and led Northern to its second straight Liberty Division title.

Last year, Northern edged Moorestown, 35-39, ending Moorestown’s streak of 21 consecutive BCSL Liberty Division titles. This year, with Moorestown now in the Olympic Conference, the Greyhounds scored 29 points and finished ahead of Cinnaminson [50], Burlington Township [78] and Bordentown [79].

Gordon won by about 250 meters over Cinnaminson senior Stephanie Renouf, who ran 18:57. Renouf became the 7th girl to break 19 minutes on New Egypt’s course, which has been used since 2004.

All five Northern scorers finished in the top 10. Sophomore Zoe Chou placed 5th for Northern in 20:50, senior Paige Their ran 6th in 20:59, junior Abigail Duffy was 9th in 21:39 and sophomore Sofia Dileo placed 10th in 21:59.

For team scoring purposes, Northern went 1-5-6-8-9.

Northern is the first school other than Moorestown to win consecutive Liberty Division titles since Shawnee in 1989 and 1990. The meet wasn’t held from 1991 through 1998 of in 2000.

This was the first time Gordon had dipped under 18 minutes on any course. Her fastest previous 5,000 was that 18:03 in last year’s BCSL meet.

Others in the top 10 included Cinnaminson junior Anna Marino [3rd in 19:34], Burlington Township senior Maeve Timms [4th in 19:51], Burlington Township junior Angelina Beck and Delran freshman Ashley Doyle [8th in 21:20].
