Cherokee grad Ethan Wechsler, a Syracuse sophomore, placed 5th in the Harry Lang Invitational Saturday at Colgate University’s Harry Lang Course in Hamilton, N.Y.
Wechsler covered the 6,400-meter course in 20:20 and finished just 34 seconds behind overall winner Kevin Robertson, a Syracuse junior. Syracuse won the team title 15-69 over Cornell.
Wechsler was Syracuse’s fourth finisher on a day when the Orangemen packed their five scorers in 48 seconds.
Wechsler ran 14:19.77 on the track for 5,000 meters last year and has an 8,000-meter XC best of 24:46.9 from the ACC Championships.
Syracuse is ranked No. 2 in the NCAA Division 1 Northeast Region by the USTFCCCA, behind only Harvard. The Orange are No. 21 nationally.
