PENNSAUKEN GIRLS DESTROY SOUTH JERSEY 800-METER RELAY RECORD WITH FASTEST TIME EVER BY NEW JERSEY PUBLIC SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sianni Wynn and the Pennsauken girls destroyed the South Jersey record and ran the 2nd-fastest 800-meter relay in state history Saturday at the Woodbury Relays.

With a lineup listed as Sanaya Dupree, Olivia Dupree, Clearview transfer Summer Schaeffer and three time national champion Sianni Wynn anchoring, Pennsauken ran a dazzling 1:36.63 to win the Group 4 4-by-2.

That’s the fastest time ever by a New Jersey public school. The only faster time in state history is Union Catholic’s 1:35.89 this past June at West Philly Nationals.

Pennsauken broke the South Jersey record of 1:37.96 set at the same meet at Franklin Field by Kaila Speight, Maya Bolden, Jade Pinder and Nester Wea of Willingboro.

Pennsauken broke the Camden County record of 1:38.43 set by Winslow Township at 2018 Greensboro Nationals. Their time is 13th-fastest in the U.S. this year, according to the MileSplit national database.

Pennsauken also broke the overall meet record of 1:39.59 set by Winslow Township in 2012 and the Group 4 meet record of 1:41.97 set by Eastern in 2002.

Pennsauken’s time is No. 16 in the world, according to the World Athletics database and No. 8 among U.S. teams. Baylor, Texas and Houston are the only U,S. colleges that have run faster this year.

Kingsway also ran hot, with Noemi Haller, Norah Brown, Taila Griscom and Kenya Nobles taking 2nd in 1:39.99. That’s No. 11 in South Jersey history and broke the Gloucester County record of 1:40.45 set last June by Kingsway at West Philly Nationals.

Sophomore Joe Saicic’s 4:23.28 anchor leg led Glassboro to the 3rd-fastest distance medley ever by a South Jersey Group 1 shool Saturday morning at the Woodbury Relays.

Glassboro won the Group 1 DMR in 10:29.47, 12th-fastest in Gloucester County history and fastest by a South Jersey Group 1 school in 11 years.

The only South Jersey Group 1s to run faster are Haddon Township with their 10:19.67 at the 2015 Penn Relays and Woodbury ran a 10:25.6 converted from 2 ½ miles in 1979 at a meet I haven’t been able to identify.

Aaron Johnson, Zacchaeus Harrigan and Jaeden Wesley also ran for Glassboro, with Wesley on the 1,200, Johnson on the 800 and Harrigan on the 400.  Wesley is a senior, and the three others are sophomores.

In any case, the 1,200 split was 3:12.24, the 400 was 51.75 and the 800 was 1:59.21. Glassboro’s DMR was fastest of the four races and 2nd-fastest in New Jersey so far this year, behind CBA’s 10:26.30 at Arcadia, Calif.

It’s the fastest time by a New Jersey Group 1 in nine years, since McNair Academic of Jersey City ran 10:20.11  at the 2017 Penn Relays.

Glassboro will run the 4-by-8 at the 130th Penn Relays, with Saicic, Johnson, Harrigan and Wesley racing in the fourth 4-by-8 section at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Franklin Field.

Dinerman was out in 55.09 and came back in 55.87,

Also in the race was St. Joe’s sophomore Chris Manzo from Egg Harbor Township, who PR’d with a 1:51.55, dropping his previous best from 1:51.68 from a meet last April on the same track. His time is 9th-fastest so far in the Atlantic 10 Conference

Woodstown’s Aidan Taulane pops #5 discus throw in Salem County history at Woodbury!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Massive discus PR Saturday morning for Woodstown senior Aidan Taulane at the Woodbury Relays.

Taulane’s throw is No. 5 in Salem County history and a Woodstown school record. The previous mark was a 154-9 by Jon Jones at the 2011 Woodbury Relays.

Kingsway’s Kyle Rakitis PR’d in the 1,500 Friday at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C., with the 7th-fastest time in Rutgers history.

Rakitis ran 3:47.25, lowering his PR from 3:47.35. That converts to a 4:05.43 full mile, which is well below his mile PR of 4:08.66 from Boston University indoors in February.

Rakitis ran his previous PR of 3:47.35 in Charlottesville in April of 2024.

On Friday, Rakitis came through 700 meters in 1:46.49 and then closed in 60.94 and 59.82 for a final 800 of 2:00.76.

Savana Dodd – from Eastern High – shatters Eastern University’s shot put school record at Widener!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Savana Dodd, a junior at Eastern from Eastern, won the shot Friday at the Paul Donahue Invitational at Widener with the No. 18 throw in NCAA Division 3 this year and a school record.

Dodd, the only athlete we’ve ever written about whose high school and college have the same name, threw 43-10 ½ on her final attempt and had two other throws over 43 feet – a 43-1 ½ on her 3rd throw and a 43-5 on her 4th.

Quite a series for Dodd, who was just two inches shy of her lifetime-best 44-0 ½ from her runner-up finish at the Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships in Reading in February. That’s the Eastern indoor school record.

Her previous outdoor best was a 42-3 ½ at last year’s MAC Championships in York and that was the previous school record.

And good job by Eastern’s sports information department for providing all-time top-10s for both indoors and outdoors, something very few Division 3 programs offer.

Dodd, a 2023 graduate of Eastern Regional High School, now attends Eastern University in Radnor Township.

Her high school PR was 39-8 ¼ at Delsea in May of 2022.

Stockton’s Josephine Buxton from Absegami bombs #7 javelin throw in NCAA Division 3 this year at Widener!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Josephine Buxton, a Stockton freshman from Absegami, threw a huge PR and the No. 7 throw in NCAA Division 3 this year Friday at the Paul Donahue Invitational at Widener University in Chester, Pa.

Buxton threw 143-1 on her 1st attempt and 143-2 on her 2nd, to win the event by more than 20 feet.

Buxton’s 143-2 is the top throw in Division 3 this year by a freshman. She threw her previous collegiate PR of 132-7 in a home meet in Galloway Township last month.

It’s the best throw by any NJAC woman since 2018, when Lia Negra of Montclair State and Nutley High in Essex County threw 152-5 at the 2018 NJAC Championships in Ewing.

It’s also the best throw by an NCAA Division 3 freshman since Riley Reitchel of Southern Maine threw 149-3 in a meet in Dedham, Mass., in May 2023., and the best throw by an NJAC freshman as far back as available records go, which is 2013.

Buxton’s previous lifetime-best was a 138-8 when she won the state Group 3 Championships in South Plainfield.

Rowan’s Ava Reardon from Delsea and Diamond Eaddy from Salem both record top-15 javelin throws in NCAA Division 3 in Virginia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rowan junior Ava Reardon from Delsea recorded the No. 12 javelin throw in NCAA Division 3 Thursday evening, and Profs teammate Diamond Eaddy of Salem wasn’t far behind.

Reardon threw 138-11 at the Virginia Challenge at Lannigan Field in Charlottesville, Ca.

That’s her best throw as a Rowan athlete. She threw 139-2 last April as a Georgian Court sophomore in a meet in Ewing and she went on to win the Coastal Athletic Conference title with a 131-11 in Lakewood.

On Thursday, Reardon opened with a 134-8 before hitting 138-11 and then 129-10.

Eaddy, a senior from Salem, threw 135-5 on her 1st attempt. Eaddy, a transfer from Lincoln, had a previous PR of 130-7 from a meet last April at Widener University in Chester. Her throw is No. 16 in NCAA Division 3.

Reardon and Eaddy are now No. 1 and 2 in the NJAC this spring, bumping a PR 132-7 by Stockton’s Josephine Buxton from Absegami from a home meet last month.

Woodstown’s Kami Casiano shatters Salem County high jump record at Lenape Field Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big day high jumping Thursday for Woodstown senior Kami Casiano, who smashed the Salem County record by clearing 5-6 at Lenape Field Day.

Casiano, who began the day with a PR 5-2, won the event on a tiebreaker with Addison Johnson of Southern Regional.

She broke the county record of 5-2 shared by Woodstown’s Melissa Powell in 1995, Schalick’s Katie Farrell in 2012, Schalick’s Camryn Castellini in 2018 and Casiano, who set her previous PR of 5-2 when she won South Jersey Group 1 Sectionals at Pennsauken in May. She also cleared 5-2 indoors in January at the Bubble.

Casiano’s 5-6 is tied for No. 2 in New Jersey this year, behind only Lindenwold’s Egypt Bolan, who cleared 5-8 over the weekend, also at Lenape. North Brunswick’s Kaya Waldron cleared 5-6 this past weekend in Lakewood. Johnson’s previous PR was also 5-2.

Casiano cleared 4-8, 4-10, 5-0 an a PR-equalling 5-2, all on her 1st attempt. She got over the bar at 5-4 on her 2nd try and 5-6 on her 1st before taking three jumps at 5-8. Johnson had two misses at 5-2 and one at 5-6, which gave Casiano the win.

5-2 … Melissa Powell [Woodstown], 1995
5-2 … Katie Farrell [Schalick], 2012 [Woodbury Relays]
5-2 … Camryn Castellini [Schalick], 2018 [Meet of Champions]

Moorestown’s Sean Sobin runs crazy 8-second 800 PR in batch meet, has 2nd-fastest time in S.J. this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are PRs and then there are PRs. Moorestown senior Sean Sobin ran a doozy Wednesday.

In a batch meet featuring Moorestown, Cherokee, Camden Eastside, Cherry Hill West and Camden Catholic with FAT timing, Sobin won the 800 in 2:00.98, with Quaker juniors Ethan Taylor [2:02.22] and Lucas Horner [2:04.82] finishing 2nd and 3rd.

What makes this notable is that according to his MileSplit page, this was only his 2nd lifetime 800 and a PR by nearly eight seconds.

The only previous 800 Sobin is listed as running was indoors in January at the Bubble, where he ran 2:09.70.

Note that it’s been nine years since a Moorestown boy ran sub-2 minutes outdoors. That was Kevin Fox, who ran . Horner dipped below 2 indoors with a 1:59.94 at the Ott Center in January. Tayor’s 2:02.22 is also a PR. He ran 2:03.53 when he placed 4th at Central Jersey Group 3 indoors at the Bubble.

Sobin’s 2:00.98 is 2nd-fastest by a South Jersey half-miler so far this outdoor season. Deptford junior John Collier ran 1:59.04 in a meet this past weekend in Lakewood.
