Sophomore Dylan Hosty ran 18:03 at West Deptford Park lead a 1-through-7 Haddonfield sweep Thursday at the Colonial Conference Championships.
Unofficially, this was Haddonfield’s 22nd consecutive Colonial Conference title, but it’s a weird meet because some years there’s been team scoring and other years there hasn’t and some years it’s impossible to tell.
But Haddonfield either officially or unofficially has had the lowest score every year since 1988. The meet wasn’t held from 1992 through 2004 or in 2020.
Since the meet was revived in 2005, Haddonfield has never scored more than 26 points and has been at 15 through 19 eight times. Results before 1990 are incomplete, but we have enough information to determine that Haddonfield did – or would have – won the team title.
It appears likely from the limited results that are available that Haddonfield would not have won the 1987 race, although there’s no way to tell who would have. Newspaper stories do not mention a team champion and the results are only 15 deep. So at worst, Haddonfield hasn’t lost a Colonial Conference meet in at least 36 years.
Following Hosty on Thursday were Molly Mills [2nd in 19:07], Madison Kelsey [3rd in 19:24], Devon Gervasi [4th in 19:37], Harper Benjamin [5th in 19:53], Tatum Russo [6th in 20:11] and Bella DeFinis [7th in 20:12].
This was Haddonfield’s first Colonial Conference sweep since 2021 and first top-seven sweep ever.
Also in the top 10 were Collingswood Hazel Straight [8th in 20:13], Haddon Township Tanner Lajoie [9th in 20:23] and Sterling Brianna Gilligan [10th in 20:24].
Others under 22 minutes were Audubon Lydia Gravante [11th in 20:37], Haddon Township Isabella Dodd [12th in 20:51], Sterling Riley Sharp [13th in 21:02], Gloucester Corinne Kelly [14th in 21:13], Haddon Township Biz Maher [15th in 21:15], Haddonfield Penelope Mathews [16th in 21:22], Haddonfield Claire Grimmenstein [17th in 21:41], Audubon Sophia Rizzo [18th in 21:46], Collingswood Gillian Romig [19th in 21:52] and Audubon Romina Macko [20th in 21:57].
