Cherry Hill East senior Cian Sherlock and Washington Township junior Trevor Szilier placed 5th and 6th in the Varsity A race Saturday at the 51st annual Shore Coaches Invitational.
Sherlock ran 16:05 over 5,000 meters at Holmdel County Park, 3rd-fastest time by a Cherry Hill East runner on the historic Holmdel layout behind Aaron Groff [15:37] and Oliver Adler [15:48]. His previous Holmdel PR was 16:17 at last year’s Meet of Champions.
Szilier was 6th in 16:11, matching his Holmdel PR from last month at the inaugural Holmdel Opener. He’s 2nd-fastest from Washington Township at Holmdel behind Anthony Dentino, who ran 15:59 in 2010.
Also under 17 minutes was Egg Harbor junior Timothy Rooney, who placed 27th in 16:58.
