Senior Keenan Neuman became Ocean City’s first Shore Coaches winner in 17 years Saturday morning and ran the fastest time by an Ocean City runner at Holmdel in 16 years in the Varsity B race at Holmdel County Park.
Neuman ran 16:07 and finished 10 seconds ahead of senior teammate Nathan Aschmann as Ocean City won its 2nd team title in three years. Aschmann was 2nd in 16:17.
Newman ran 16:07, fastest by an Ocean City runner at Holmdel since Miles Schoedler ran 15:44 at 2010 Shore Coaches and 4th-fastest in school history. He’s Ocean City’s first Shore Coaches winner since Schoedler ran 16:18 and won Varsity C in 2009.
Also in Ocean City’s scoring group were junior Benjamin McCarthy [8th in 16:54], senior Michael Romano [12th in 17:04] and junior Hayden Tarves [28th in 17:40].
Ocean City, ranked 6th in New Jersey, finished with a 28-115 margin of victory over Hopewell Valley. Highland [133] and Moorestown [165] placed 3rd and 4th.
The Quakers were led by junior Zander Kane in 4th place in 16:34. Also in the top 20: Highland seniorLiam Murphy [17th in 17:22] and teammate senior Tyler Boice [19th in 17:28].
