In their first collegiate races, Julia Flanagan from Holy Cross and Riley Fayer from Audubon both placed in the top 10 at the Delaware Invitational Friday. They were Delaware’s 2nd and 4th finishers and 1st and 3rd among all freshmen in the race.
Flanagan placed 5th in 18:50 over 5,000 meters at White Clay Creek State Park in New Castle County, Delaware, and Fayer was 8th in 18:58. Also racing for Delaware were Eastern’s Kadence Dumas [19th in 19:51], Leah Clear from Camden Catholic (21st in 19:56] and Cherokee’s Madeline Meder [23rd in 20:09]. There were 91 finishers in the race.
Delaware placed 2nd to Maryland, 22-35.
In the men’s race over 6,000 meters, sophomore Julian Rich from Camden County Tech placed 16th in 22:10.
