Ajani Dwyer will kick off things for the South Jersey contingent at U.S. Nationals today at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island in Manhattan.
Dwyer, a Washington Township graduate who just finished his sophomore year at Penn State, will race in the 100-meter dash trials at 4:15 p.m., followed by Lumberton’s Greg Foster in the long jump at 6:10 p.m.
Both are among the best in their event among U.S. men.
Dwyer is ranked 12th among Americans with his wind-legal 9.98 in Lexington, Ky., in May, although he ran a windy 9.85 in Memphis earlier this year, which is 6th-fastest in any conditions among Americans this year.
Foster, who grew up in Burlington County but attended Lawrenceville Prep, recently completed his eligibility at Princeton and will do a grad year at Rutgers next year. He’s ranked 5th among U.S. men with his 27-0 1/2 at the Armory in February.
