Pleasantville’s Raliel Wiggins becomes South Jersey’s 12th 24-foot long jumper to win sectionals (but apparently with no wind gauge)!!!!!!!!

Pleasantville junior Raliel Wiggins broke the 24-foot plateau in the long jump at South Jersey Group 2 sectionals, but it appears there was no wind gauge at Delsea.

Wiggins, who began the day with a PR of 22-10 ½ from the Atlantic County Championships at Egg Harbor earlier this month, jumped 24-0 ½ on his 6th attempt after PR’ing on his 1st attempt with a 23-4 ¼. He also had a 23-2 and 22-7 in his series along with two fouls.

The results do not show any wind readings, which makes the mark ineligible for record consideration and most performance lists.

Overbrook junior Jaiden Mitchell also surpassed 23 feet, taking 2nd with a PR 23-4 ¼.

Burlington City’s Mike Boone set the meet record of 24-1 ¼ in 1990 in Bridgeton.

Wiggins is the 12th South Jersey long jumper to surpass 24 feet regardless of wind conditions. His mark is just 3 ¾ inches off the Atlantic County record of 24-4 ¼ set by Egg Harbor Township’s Ahmad Fogg at 2023 West Philly Nationals at Franklin Field.

Wiggins is the first Pleasantville long jumper to win a sectional title in 32 years, since Herb Simon won the 1994 Group 2 title at West Deptford with a 21-2 ¾ in 1994.
