Highland senior Zion Josia Brockenbrough popped the top discus throw in South Jersey this year Friday at the South Jersey Group 3 Sectionals at Delsea.
Brockenbrough threw 166-3 on his final attempt to bump Toms River East’s Jacob Humphrey out of the lead. Humphrey had thrown 156-1 on his 3rd throw and Brockenbrough’s best through five rounds was 153-1.
Brockenbrough’s previous best was a 164-5 last week at the Camden County Championships at Haddon Township. His throw Friday is No. 13 in Camden County history.
Highland’s only previous sectional discus champ was Devon Starks, who threw 152-9 at the 2018 meet, also at Delsea.
