Kingsway’s Evan Corcoran ran the 2nd-fastest wind-legal 100-meter dash in Rowan history Wednesday at the AARTFC Championships at Ursinus University in Collegeville, Pa.
Corcoran led all qualifiers into the finals Thursday with a time of 10.42 with a 0.7 tailwind. Corcoran had run 10.38 in Columbia, S.C., in 2003 with a 4.6 wind and 10.39 last month in Daytona Beach with a 3.0 tailwind. Sprints and horizontal jumps must be made with a maximum tailwind of 2.0 meters per second to be considered for record and all-time performance list purposes.
Corcoran’s previous legal 100 was a 10.61 with a 0.2 at last year’s New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships in Ewing.
The only faster legal time in school history is a 10.32 by Eastern’s Rajahn Dixon in Glassboro last month with a 0.4 wind reading.
The TFRRS performance lists do not differentiate between legal and wind-aided performances. Corcoran already ranks 11th in NCAA Division 3 with his 11.39. I went through the entire list and culled all the legal marks of 10.45 or faster, and Corcoran is 8th. Full list is below.
Three of the four-fastest 100-meter sprinters in Rowan history are current Profs – Dixon is No. 1, Corcoran now No. 2 and Penns Grove’s Eli Hendricks is No. 4 at 10.50 from last month in Charlotttesville with a 1.7.
The 100 final at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championshps is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. Thursday.
Ramapo sophomore Samuel Thomas ran 10.75 to also advance to Thursday’s final. His PR is 10.54 from his 2nd-place finish at this year’s NJACA meet in Mahwah.
