Winslow Township freshman Jasmine Jackson, who smashed the South Jersey freshman hurdles record earlier in the week, ran the 15th-fastest 400 in South Jersey history Friday at Ocean Breeze.
It was her first high school 400.
Jackson ran 56.59 at the 10th annual Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival, finishing 2nd to Justice McDaniel of Bishop McNamara of Bishop McNamara in Forestville, Md. Justice ran 56.07 in a different section.
Her time is 3rd-fastest in South Jersey history by a freshman, behind Sianni Wynn of Pennsauken [56.10 at 2023 Easterns at the Armory] and English Gardner of Eastern [56.29 at 1997 Meet of Champions at the Bubble]. It’s No. 7 on the all-time Camden County list.
Jackson set a South Jersey 55-meter hurdles record of 8.16 at Ocean Breeze last Friday.
Sophomore Cinniya Robinson, sophomore Skyhe Seamon, junior Olivia Okaro and freshman Amariah Arango all ran sub-59 for Winslow.
Robinson ran 57.75 in the first section of the three-race final, Okaro ran 58.72 and Arango 58.77 in the 2nd section and Seamon ran 58.12 in the 3rd race, which also included Jackson.
Winslow showed its crazy 400 depth by running 4:02.00 in the 1,600-meter relay with none of the five girls who broke 59 seconds in the open race. Junior Leeya Joseph, sophomore Tristan Hughes, freshman Adrian Arango and sophomore Jordyn Cato ran on Winslow’s 4-by-4, with Joseph leading off in 59.50.
