Winslow’s freshman Skyhe Seamon, freshman Cinniya Robinson, sophomore Olivia Okaro and senior Dominique Clement ran the fastest 1,600-meter relay ever by a South Jersey school at the 50th annual Woodbury Relays and shattered the Group 3 meet record.
Seamon, Robinson, Okaro and Clement won the race in 3:51.53, breaking the Group 3 meet record of 3:52.39 set by Winslow’s DeAnn Cross, Torie Robinson, Ashley Oguledo and Stey’ce McNeil at the 2012 meet.
Seamon led off with a 57.27 split, Robinson ran 59.28, Okaro ran 57.49 and Clement anchored in 57.50.
Winslow’s time is No. 2 in New Jersey this year behind a Scotch Plains-based parochial school. It’s Winslow’s fastest time since a 3:50.56 to win the state Group 3 race in 2019 in Bayville with the lineup of Nicole Hood, Janeya Hammond, Rayven Rouse and Nylah Perry.
The only faster time in Woodbury Relays history was run by Columbia in Group 4 in 2013. The team of Cheyenne Tregg, Kenya Gaston, Olivia Baker and Shanika Dessein. Baker is No. 23 in U.S. history at 800 meters with her 1:58.05 in Monaco in 2022.
Timber Creek ran 3:54.01 for 2nd place with – according to the official results – the lineup of senior Naylah Jones [59.78], junior Billie Frazier [57.61], junior Ryan Jennings [59.11] and freshman Taylor Gaines [57.53]. If that order is incorrect please let me know.
Timber Creek’s 3:54.01 is No. 3 in New Jersey this year. Indoors, Timber Creek and Winslow both ran sub-3:50, 3:49.50 for Winslow and 3:49.59 for Timber Creek, both at the Millrose Games in February at the Armory.
Timber Creek had a monster sprint relay day, winning the 4-by-100 in 47.32 (No. 10 in South Jersey) and 4-by-200 in 1:40.10 (No. 6 in South Jersey history) along with its 3:54.01 in the 4-by-4.
Winslow won the Group 3 team title 54-46 over Timber Creek.
