Former Sterling and St. Joe’s runner Jimmy Daniels placed 20th in the Philadelphia Marathon Sunday morning with a 2:25.42 in his first lifetime marathon.
Daniels, 27, finished 8th in the 25-to-29 age group and finished only 1 ½ minutes out of the top 10.
Daniels, who lives in Stratford, placed 3rd in the 2013 Meet of Champions in the 3,200 in 9:00.30 and also ran 4:16.53 for 1,600 meters at Sterling. He ran 14:32.78 for 5,000 meters at St. Joe’s before graduating in 2017.
Michael Iannotta, 22, a 2018 Cherokee graduate who ran at The College of New Jersey, placed 60th and 7th in the 20-24 age group in 2:35.29.
Brian Quilty, 33, of Pitman ran 2:37.18 for 71st place and 21st in the 30-34 age group. Quilty ran at Rowan after graduating from St. Rose High in Belmar.
Chris Shaw of Turnersville, 21, ran 2:38.03 for 77th place and 11th in the 20-24 age group. Shaw, a Washington Township graduate who ran for Stockton, just ran the Atlantic City Marathon late last month.
Dominic Ondoro of Grand Prairie, Texas, won the race in 2:14.20.
Gabby Vassalotti of Haddonfield and Danielle Iannone of Marlton were the top South Jersey women, placing 102nd and 103rd. Vassalotti ran 3:08.32 and Iannone ran 3:12.06.
