Cherokee grad Kaila Carter, a senior at The College of New Jersey, won the 60-meter hurdles Saturday morning at the All-Atlantic Regional Championships at Nazareth College’s Golisano Center in Rochester, N.Y.
Carter ran 8.94, finishing just ahead of Laura Mathews of Stevens Institute in Hoboken, who was second in 8.99, and Emily Lavarnway of SUNY Geneseo, who ran 9.02.
Carter is ranked No. 11 in NCAA Division 3 at 8.89, which she ran winning the NJAC title last month. That broke the TCNJ school record of 8.91, set in 2010 by Priscilla Senyah.
The regional title is Carter’s first after two 2nd-place finishes and a 4th-place finish.
