Haddon Township grad Luke Petela placed 10th in the America East XC Championships Saturday morning.
Petela, a Vermont senior, was the Catmount’s first finisher, covering the 8,000-meter course on the University of Albany’s campus in 24:20.
Vermont placed third with 75 points, behind Stony Brook (22) and U. Mass-Lowell (54).
Petela placed 57th in the conference meet as a sophomore and 43rd last year. His 24:20 is a PR on any 8,000-meter course, breaking his previous PR of 25:12 from last month at the Paul Short Invite at Lehigh.
Petela, a transfer from Penn, was a Foot Locker finalist at Haddon Township and ran 1:53.78, 4:11.78 and 8:58.32. He was Meet of Champions 3,200-meter champ in the spring of 2015.
