Riddell, Wechsler run N.J. #1 and #2 and lead 15 runners under 9:45 at Cherokee Night of 3200s!!!!!

Martin Riddell and Ethan Wechsler ran the two-fastest 3,200’s by New Jersey runners this year Thursday night at Cherokee’s initial Night of 3200s in Marlton.

Riddell, a Haddonfield junior, ran 9:12.43, and Wechsler finished just behind in 9:16.66.

Riddell’s previous PR was a 9:18.81 for fifth at the indoor Meet of Champions this past February. His outdoor PR was a 9:33.38 from last year’s Camden County Championships.

Wechsler’s previous PR was a 9:21.02, also from the indoor Meet of Champions this past winter. His outdoor PR was a 9:31.06 from the Holmdel Night of 3200s last May.

In all, 10 runners broke 9:40 and 30 broke 10 minutes. The race produced the 18-fastest times by South Jersey two-milers so far this spring and 18 of the top 23 state-wide.

Other South Jersey boys under 9:40:

—> Haddonfield senior Greg Eisenhower placed fourth in 9:27.29, breaking his PR of 9:30.88.

—> Cherry Hill East junior Oliver Adler was fifth in 9:29.62, lowering his PR from 9:34.97

—> Haddonfield senior Griffin Weiner took sixth in 9:32.16, a huge drop from his PR of 9:52.89.

—> Haddonfield senior Derek Gess moved up from the 800 and 1,600 to run 9:34.85, lowering his PR from 9:44.39

—> Haddonfield junior Stephen Kasko took ninth in 9:37.97, dropping nearly 16 seconds from his PR of 9:53.73

—> Cherokee junior Chase Miller ran 10th in 9:39.42, just off his PR of 9:31.31 from the Holmdel Night of 3200s last May.

—> Aidan Eyre, a Cherry Hill East sophomore, ran 9:41.41 for 12th, a massive breakthrough from his previous personal-best of 10:13.36 from a Bennett Center developmental meet back in January.

—> Andrew Gostovich, a junior at Haddonfield, ran 9:42.73 for 13th. He doesn’t run many 3200s but his previous PR was a 10:38.69 at this meet last April.

—> Junior Tyler Jackson was Cherokee’s third runner, taking 14th in 9:43.51. That’s a PR and the first big-meet 3,200 Jackson has ever run on the track.

—> Senior Ethan Spellmeyer gave Haddonfield seven at 9:45 or faster with a 9:45.43 for 15th place. His previous PR was a 9:54.00 at this meet a year ago.
