Kingsway senior Orion Joyner uncorked another big triple jump at Easterns Tuesday night, placing second with a personal-best 46-5 at the Armory.
Joyner hit the 46-5 on his first attempt of the trials and led until the second-to-last jump of the competition, when Meldon Grant of Manhasset High in New York jumped 47-1.
Joyner’s previous indoor PR was a 45-10 3/4 at the Marine Corps Holiday Classic, also at the Armory. So he topped that by more than seven inches. He’s also now well beyond his outdoor PR of 45-4 1/2 from states last year.
His mark is No. 1 in New Jersey this year and No. 6 in South Jersey history.
