Rancocas Valley senior Ian Moore won the 1,000 meters over a field of 79 runners Saturday at the Ocean Breeze Freedom Games on Staten Island.
Moore ran 2:34.68, which held up as the fastest time over a 2:35.17 by Edward Cerne of Lake Braddock (Va.) in another section of the seven-race final.
Moore’s previous PR was a 2:39.97 at the Bishop Loughlin Games on the same Ocean Breeze track last year.
He missed the school record of 2:34.05 set four years ago by Isaiah Curbelo by just over half a second.
