Sincere Rhea PRs again and moves up to #5 in SOUTH JERSEY HISTORY with monster finals race at Meet of Champions

St. Augustine junior Sincere Rhea, who ran the 10th-fastest time in South Jersey history in the 110-meter hurdles trials, dropped his PR again placing second in the Meet of Champions high hurdles final.

Rhea ran 13.80 in the trials and 13.74 in the final, moving into a tie for the No. 5 spot in South Jersey history. Only one South Jersey hurdler — Kevin Hagamin of Timber Creek, with a 13.73 in 2014 — has run faster in the last 20 years.

Rhea’s time is fastest by a New Jersey junior since Todd Matthews of Notre Dame ran 13.56 in 1997. He also lowered his own Atlantic County record.

Akeem Lindo of East Orange won the race in 13.71 at Northern Burlington in Mansfield Township.

Rhea’s time is No. 12 in meet history. The only South Jersey hurdlers who have ever gone faster in a Meet of Champions race are Willingboro’s Gerard Reynolds (13.59 in 1990), Danyne Brown of Camden (13.63 in 1996) and Sultan Tucker of Delsea (13.66 in 1997). All three won those races.
