Kingsway senior Rachel Vick and North Hunterdon sophomore Elena DiMarcello both ran 4:52.69 in the Meet of Champions 1,600 Saturday, but Vick was awarded with the victory.
Vick becomes the first Gloucester County girl to win the Meet of Champions 1,600 (or mile) in 35 years, since Michelle Rowen of Washington Township won it in 1982.
She joins sprinter Denise Liles (100 in 1984, 100 and 200 in 1986), Janet Morris in the javelin (1991) and Chelsea Ley (3,200 in 2009) as the fourth Kingsway girl to win a Meet of Champions title.
Vick and DiMarcello both finished more than six seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
