Cherokee graduate Jessica Woodard earned first-team All-Ameria honors for the fourth time in her remarkable career after placing eighth in the shot put at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Woodard threw had five legal throws, all between 54-4 1/2 and 56-6. She reached 56-6 on her third throw of the trials. She finished just 11 inches out of third place in a very close finish.
Woodard was eighth (55-11) and fifth (57-7) at indoor nationals in the shot the last two years and third last year outdoors (58-8).
Woodard, a junior at Oklahoma, competes in the discus Saturday evening.
