Cherry Hill East’s Addison Weiss races into all-time South Jersey top-20 in her 3rd lifetime 3,200!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cherry Hill East sophomore Addison Weiss raced into the all-time South Jersey top-20 in the indoor 3,200 Saturday at the Bubble.

Weiss placed 3rd in the Group 4 3,200 in 10:47.46, which makes her 14th-fastest in the state this year, 2nd-fastest in South Jersey behind Julia Flanagan of Holy Cross and 2nd-fastest sophomore behind Amelia Pattwell of Middletown South, who ran 10:33.33 in the state Group 3 meet.

This was Weiss’s 1st race ever under 11 minutes. Her previous PR was 11:03.97 at the Ott Center in January, so this was about a 16-second PR. Weiss didn’t run indoors as a freshman and never ran anything over 800 meters outdoors. So this was only her 3rd lifetime 3,200, and it’s No. 6 all-time in Camden County.

Weiss is only a little more than five seconds off the school record of 10:42.22 set in 2007 by Theresa Cattuna at the 2007 state Group 4 meet at the Bubble, where she placed 2nd to Ashley Higginson of Colts Neck. Cattuna set the Cherry Hill East outdoor record of 10:34.79 at the 2007 Meet of Champions in South Plainfield, where she was 3rd behind Higginson and Nicol Traynor of Ridge.

Weiss also ran a lifetime-best 5:05.12 for 6th in the 1,600.

Kingsway junior Aubrey Bishop also ran under 11 for the first time, placing 4th at states in 10:55.85. That’s 7th-fastest all-time indoors in Gloucester County.

There are now six South Jersey girls under 11 minutes, the most ever in one indoor season. In addition to Flanagan [10:38.95], Weiss and Bishop, Ocean City sophomore Riley Tolson [10:49.99], Audubon senior Riley Fayer [10:57.28] and Paul VI senior Giovanna Mantuano [10:59.61] have also run under 11 minutes.

Weiss goes into the Meet of Champions a week from Sunday at Ocean Breeze as the No. 12 seed.

Two more state titles for Natalie Dumas, and Eastern places 2nd in Group 4!!!!!!!!

Eastern senior Natalie Dumas won her 10th and 11th state titles Saturday, doubling the 400 and 800 at the state Group 4 meet at the Bubble.

Dumas, a triple national champion in the 400, 800 and intermediate hurdles at West Philly Nationals last spring, ran 55.96 in the 400 and 2:17.68 in the 800. She also anchored Eastern’s 3rd-place 1,600-meter relay, which ran 4:05.52.

Those 26 points earned Eastern 2nd place, just four points behind state champion Hunterdon Central.

Dumas will be the No. 2 seed at Meet of Champions at Ocean Breeze behind Pennsauken senior Sianni Wynn, who ran 55.24 to win the state Group 3 title. But Wynn is expected to go 55-200 at the Meet of Champions, a double she’s won in each of the last three years.

In the 800, we won’t get the showdown we’d love to see with Paige Sheppard, because she only ran the 1,600 at states.

Dumas has run 53.68 and 2:07.73 indoors and 51.14 and 2:00.11 outdoors.

Joining Dumas Saturday on Eastern’s 3rd-place 4-by-4 were Adriana Marella, Poetry Anderson and Knoelle Whittle.

Also in Group 4, Atlantic County Tech senior Brianna Growalt won the 55-meter hurdles in 8.10.

The Rancocas Valley tandem of senior La’el Yates and sophomore Isabella Santamaria finished 2nd and 3rd in the pole vault, Yates clearing 11-0 and Santamaria 10-6.

Williamstown junior Timia Williams placed 4th in the hurdles in 8.40 and Williamstown senior Brynn Greenwood was 5th in the pole vault at 10-0.

Cherry Hill East sophomore Addison Weiss ran 10:47.46 for 3rd in the 3,200 and 5:05.12 for 6th in the 1,600. More on her hot 3,200 later! Kingsway junior Aubrey Bishop also broke 11 minutes in that race, 4th in 10:55.85.

Kingsway ran 4:06.10 for 4th in the 4-by-4, with senior Savannah Aulich, junior Norah Brown, sophomore Noemi Haller and junior Kenya Nobles.

Cherokee senior Sofia Recinto ran 2:19.27 for 2nd in the 800 and Cherry Hill East junior Ryleigh Budsock ran 2:21.96 for 6th.

SIANNI WYNN DESTROYS HER OWN STATE 200 RECORD WITH 13TH-FASTEST TIME IN U.S. SCHOLASTIC TRACK HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pennsauken senior Sianni Wynn destroyed her own state record in the 200 Saturday at the Ott Center with one of the fastest times in U.S. scholastic history.

Wynn won the 200 at the CIRCUIT Philly in 23.17, the 13th-fastest time ever run by a U.S. high school girl. She broke her state record of 23.31 that he ran at the Meet of Champions last March at Ocean Breeze.

Her time is 7th-fastest ever run by a New Jerey sprinter and not far from the South Jersey indoor alumni record of 23.12 set by Wilson’s Dennisha Page competing for South Carolina in February 2024 in Albuquerque, N. Mex.

She’s also now No. 21 among U.S. women this year and No. 2 among U.S. Women in the Under-20 age group. She’s now No. 25 on the all-time U.S. Under-20 list. She doesn’t turn 18 until April.

Wynn is the South Jersey outdoor state record holder with her 23.05 last June at West Philly Nationals, fastest by a New Jerey girl since 1983.
