Cinnaminson’s Jacob Wickersham wins junior class race at Thompson Park 2-Miler!!!!!!

Cinnaminson’s Jacob Wickersham ran two miles in 10:13 and easily won the junior class race at the Thompson 2-Miler at Thompson Park in Jamesburg.

Wickersham finished about 60 meters ahead of 2nd-place Caden Gueci of Point Pleasant Borough, who ran 10:24.

His 10:13 was 5th-fastest among more than 500 boys who competed in four class races.

Wickersham is coming off a 2023 track season where he ran 9:31.36, 8th -fastest among all sophomores in New Jersey.

Cinnaminson’s Ryan Scaricaciottoli, Edward Abu-Abas and Alexander Lonardo placed 11th, 14th and 21st in the sophomore race and combined for 41 team points when individuals are removed, good for 3rd place in sophomore team scoring behind Colts Neck and Hopewell Valley.

Cinnaminson’s one runner in the senior race, Brandon Smith, ran 10:34 and placed 11th. The Pirates also took 4th in the freshman race, with Lucas and Keith Fried 17th and 18th and James Coller 30th.

Northern’s Caleb Wiederholt ran 10:34 and placed 9th in the senior class race, with teammates Noah Taylor 19th in 10:52 and Colin Brennan 45th in 11:53, and the Greyhounds placed 5th in senior class team scoring.

Northern junior Jimmy Cataline was 7th in the junior race in 10:57.

Moorestown girls win team title, Schalick’s Jordan Hadfield top S.J. finisher at South Jersey Shootout!!!!!!

Moorestown packed seven girls in the top 21 and won the team title, and Schalick senior Jordan Hadfield was the top South Jersey runner Saturday in the South Jersey Shootout in Logan Township.

Moorestown, led by junior Lilliana Stack Maya in 5th and senior Gabrielle DeJoseph in 6th, outscored Voorhees 38-44. The two teams were tied at 24 through four runners, but freshman Makayla Zell finished nearly a minute ahead of Voorhees’ 5th runner to lock up the team title over 5,000 meters at DREAM Park in 18:38. Voorhees is ranked 20th in New Jersey.

Delsea edged Sterling 102-106 for 3rd place.

For Moorestown, Stack Maya ran 19:29 for 5th place, DeJoseph ran 19:31 for 6th and freshman Hope Edwards also finished in the top 10 with a time of 20:18 in her 3rd varsity race.

The Quakers’ 4th runner was sophomore Sophia DiFiore [13th in 20:41], with Zell 5th. They were backed up by sophomore Siyana Sheth in 19th [20:59] and senior Sarah Brown 21st [21:12].

For team scoring purposes, Moorestown went 3-4-7-10-14-15-17.

Hadfield, the state Group 1 champ last spring in both the 1,600 and 3,200, finished a fraction of a second behind winner Daphne Roskowski of Voorhees. Officially, Roskowski ran 18:38.53 and Hadfield 18:38.65.

That means they were separated by about 15 inches at the finish line.

Holy Cross junior Julia Flanagan ran 19:23 for 4th, Camden Catholic senior Nilaa Ponnappan 19:39 in 7th, Williamstown junior Sophia Aldridge 19:40 to place 8th and Sterling’s Jonalee Adames was 9th in 19:47.

Cherokee wins RVR Relays in Virginia, shatters course record; Chief girls 4th!!!!!!

The Cherokee boys, ranked 4th in New Jersey, shattered the course record in the RVA Relays under the lights Saturday evening at Pole Green Park in Hanover County, Va.

Senior Liam Tindall, sophomore Benjamin Realley, junior Logan Bromley, senior Enzo Corona and freshman Jack Tindall ran 2,500 meters each in 36:13 – that’s an average of 7:14.6 – and broke the course record shared by Deep Run of Glen Allen, Va., and Cherokee, who both ran 36:59 in 2019.

The top five schools ran under that 5-year-old course record on Saturday.

Each of Cherokee’s runners ran between 7:09 and 7:17.

Liam Tindall led off with a 7:17, followed by Realley in 7:15, Bromley in 7:14, Corona in 7:17 and Jack Tindall in 7:09.

Realley, Bromley and Corona all ran the fastest time for their legs. Liam Tindall was 8th-fastest of all 58 leadoff runners and Jack Tindall’s time was 10th-fastest among all anchors.

According to the MileSplit database, Jack Tindall’s 7:09 is fastest in course history by a freshman. The previous record is listed as 7:28 by Max Etka of Midlothian (Va.) High School in 2015.

Gainesville (Va.) High placed 2nd in 36:45, an average of 6 ½ seconds slower per runner than Cherokee.

Cherokee also won the B&C Relay for runners outside their team’s top-5 with an average time of 38:50 – an average of 7:46 per leg. Good enough to place 27th in the A race.

Sophomore Sean Sooy [7:19], sophomore Gavin Danielewicz [8:05], senior Anthony DiBattista [7:42], sophomore Leo Vyvyan [8:10] and senior Tate Midora [7:31] ran for Cherokee’s B&C team.

Just using its top five freshmen and sophomores from the two races, Cherokee would have gone 7:09, 7:15, 7:19, 8:05, 8:10 for an average of 7:35 and placed 16th in overall team scoring.

The Cherokee girls placed 4th with senior Megan Niglio, junior Maya Kumar, senior Grace Wojciechowski, freshman Erin Healy and junior Madeline Meder running a combined 44:19.

Niglio led off with an 8:27 split, followed by Kumar in 9:01, Wojciechowski in 9:11, Healy in 9:00 and Meder in 8:37.

Cherokee’s 44:19 is 5th-fastest in course history. Overall girls winner Padua of Wilmington, Del., set the course record Saturday at 43:09.

Cherokee’s B&C team finished 7th, with junior Sofia Recinto [9:34], sophomore Genisa John [9:41], senior Emily Butler [9:45], sophomore Gabrielle Urban [10:01] and senior Veronica Ashcraft [10:27].

Padua’s 2nd leg was run by senior Brianna Heffernan, who lives in Woolwich Township, Gloucester County. She ran her 2,500 meters in 8:52, 2nd-fastest among 2nd legs.

MIT’s Jacob Cobb from West Deptford runs 3rd in Maribel Sanchez Souther Invite season opener!!!!!

West Deptford’s Jacob Cobb placed 3rd in the Maribel Sanchez Souther Invite Saturday in Hanover, N.H., helping MIT beat Dartmouth in its 2024 season opener.

MIT, ranked 12th in the country, defeated Dartmouth, 18-40.

Cobb, a junior, ran 25:48 over 8,000 meters on Dartmouth’s hilly course at Hanover Country Club along the eastern banks of the Connecticut River that forms the Vermont-Connecticut border.

Cobb ran within 11 seconds of his 8K PR of 25:37, which he ran at the 2022 New England Men’s and Women’s Athletic Conference Championships in Attleboro, Mass.

On Saturday, MIT swept the top three places behind freshman Renne Cooper [25:43], senior Sam Coutts [25:46] and Cobb.

Last spring, Cobb set a school record by running 9:00.17 for the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a meet at in Williamstown, Mass.

MIT is ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division 3 East Region and 12th in the country by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association [USTFCCCA].

Noah Stapleton, Simon Bernhardt, Brody Dillich lead Shawnee to S.J. Shootout team title!!!!!!

Seniors Noah Stapleton, Simon Bernhardt and Brody Dillich each finished in the top 10 to lead Shawnee to the team title at the South Jersey Shootout in Logan Township.

Highland senior Mason Wassell was top South Jersey finisher, placing 2nd over the flat, fast 5,000-meter DREAM Park course in 15:59.

Stapleton was 4th in 16:26, Bernhardt 8th in 16:57 and Dillich 10th in 17:08 for the Renegades, who defeated Sanford School of Hockessin, Del., 55-66.

Seniors Jake Steelman and Finnegan Bracken were Shawnee’s 4th and 5th runners, Steelman in 22nd in 17:42 and Bracken 24th in 17:53.

Williamstown junior Dominic Burgo, Clearview senior Ethan Worst and Cedar Creek junior Vincenzo Vecchio also placed in the top 10 among 97 runners. Burgo was 5th in 16:32, Worst 7th in 16:49 and Vecchio 9th in 17:03.

Brandon Lyons, Brady Bogos take 4th & 5th in senior race and Cherry Hill East takes 2nd in Battle at Ocean County Park merge!!!!!!

Brandon Lyons and Brody Bogos placed 4th and 5th in the senior class race Friday at the Battle at Ocean County Park, and Cherry Hill East finished a close 2nd in the team merge of the three class races.

Lyons ran 15:34 and Bogos 15:37 over 5,000 meters at Ocean County Park in Lakewood, the 5th- and 6th-fastest times of the day.

East’s top 5 also included Alvin Lin [2nd in junior race in 15:50], Cian Sherlock [2nd in sophomore race in 16:14] and Will Nelson [10th in junior race in 16:25], with Milo Poerner [11th in junior race in 16:26] and Colin Moore [12th in junior race 16:29] also under 16:30.

Also under 17:30 in the senior race were Julian Rich of Camden County Vo-Tech – Sicklerville [17th in 16:47], Winslow’s Dominic Bassey [18th in 16:53], Eastern’s Ryan Haefele [21st in 16:58], Winslow’s David Duran [30th in 17:25].

Top South Jersey finishers in the junior race were Rex Takakjy [16th in 16:54], Eastern’s Justin Fox [18th in 17:07] and Winslow’s Vincent Perri [19th in 17:21].

Jon Chalmers and Aneesh Rajagopal of Cherry Hill East placed 9th and 10th in the sophomore race in 17:22 and 17:29.

Cate Feudtner, Ryleigh Budsock, Gabriella Pizzo lead Cherry Hill East girls to 3rd place in Battle of Ocean County Park merge!!!!!!

Senior Cate Feudtner and sophomores Ryleigh Budsock and Gabriella Pizzo all broke 20 minutes over 5,000 meters, and the Cherry Hill East girls – ranked 5th in the state – finished 3rd in a merge of class races at the Battle at Ocean County Park in Lakewood.

Feudtner placed 6th in the senior race in 19:45 and Budsock and Pizzo ran 9th and 10th in the sophomore race in 19:49 and 19:55.

Cherry Hill East’s top-5 also included Ella Davidson [13th in junior race in 20:30] and Shaelea Conway [19th in junior race in 20:56]. Katherine Grottini ran 21:05 for 17th in the sophomore race.

The Eastern girls took 5th in the merge, led by Theresa Albertson [6th in sophomore race in 18:36, fastest among all South Jersey runners], Natalie Dumas [11th in junior race in 19:59], Sarah Haefele [30th in senior race in 21:22], Jordyn Waterman [21st in sophomore race in 21:30] and Emi Loverdi [36th in senior race in 21:53].

Shawnee’s Paige Cline ran 20:01 for 9th in the senior class race, and Winslow’s Ava Millner [10th in 20:06], Hammonton’s Natalie Clauhs [11th in 20:11] and Cherry Hill East’s Krystal Pagtel [13th in 20:34] also placed in the top 20.

Also under 21:30 were Shawnee’s Ava Nix, who placed 24th in the senior race in 20:56, and teammate Kayla Dilks, who was 29th in 21:15.

Austin Gabay takes 5th in B1G Preview in first race for Butler!!!!!!

Cinnaminson’s Austin Gabay, in his first race for Butler, placed 5th in the Fighting Illini B1G Preview Friday in Savoy, Ill.

Gabay ran 23:48 over 8,000 meters on the Orange and Blue Golf Course just south of Champaign. He was Butler’s first finisher.

Gabay graduated in the spring from Duke and is spending a graduate year at Butler in Indianapolis. That 23:48 is only four seconds off his 8K PR of 23:44 from the 2022 Paul Short Run on Lehigh’s Goodman campus.

Gabay finished only six seconds behind winner Christian de Vaal of Wisconsin and New Zealand.

At Duke, Gabay ran 3:40.73 for 1,500 meters and 7:58.94 for 3,000 on the track.

Vineland’s Kylee Black PRs over 5,000 meters, wins tri-meet in 2024 season opener!!!!!!

Kylee Black, a senior at Vineland, ran a lifetime all-course PR over 5,000 meters Tuesday and placed 1st in a tri-meet with Cedar Creek and Atlantic County Institute of Technology on Vineland’s course.

Black ran 20:53 and won by about 250 meters over senior teammate Gabrielle Brown [2nd in 22:01], with sophomore Olivia Masucci [3rd in 22:51] making it a 1-2-3 Vineland finish.

Senior Leah Denmead [4th in 23:44] and sophomore Lisette Echevarria [5th in 23:54] were Cedar Creek’s top finishers.

Sophomores Gianna Capoferri and Jasira Spencer ran 6th and 7th and were Vineland’s 4th and 5th finishers. Seniors Shannon Powers and Ashlyn Walker were ACIT’s top finishers in 8th and 9th and Cedar Creek’s Jenny Rae was the top freshman in the race in 10th place.

Vineland outscored Cedar Creek 19-38.

Eustace’s Ethan Caprarola edges Moorestown’s Ethan Taylor in Olympic Conference batch meet at DREAM Park!!!!!!

Bishop Eustace senior Ethan Caprarola, 5th in the state Parochial B meet last year at Holmdel, finished 1st of 64 runners Tuesday in an Olympic Conference batch meet.

Caprarola ran 18:44 over 5,000 meters at DREAM Park in Logan Township and won by about 10 meters over Moorestown sophomore Ethan Taylor, who was 2nd in 18:46.

Also in the top 10 were Camden County Vo-Tech Sicklerville senior Julian Rich [3rd in 18:49], Eustace senior Desmond Carey [4th in 18:50], Winslow senior Dominic Bassey [5th in 19:33], Camden County Vo-Tech Sicklerville senior Leo Vargas-Trinidad [6th in 20:05], Eustace junior Alexander Dietz [7th in 20:07], Winslow senior Eric Brown [8th in 20:22], Winslow senior David Duran [20:24] and Winslow junior Vincent Perri [10th in 20:29].

Winslow topped Moorestown 32-45 to win the team title.

In a separate race, Eastern had three of the top four finishes to edge Lenape 28-38.

Senior Ryan Haefele ran 18:16 and finished 30 meters ahead of 2nd-place Connor McCafferty, a Seneca senior, who was 2nd in 18:23.
