After running the 2nd-fastest 4-by-200 in South Jersey history in Friday’s qualifying heats, Deptford earned All-America honors Saturday by placing 7th in the final at Boston THE TRACK Nationals.
Senior Johan Hernandez, junior Xavion Holmes, senior Kareem Brown and senior Damon Albertson ran 1:27.91 in the final after a 1:27.55 in the trials. The names of the four runners in the trials were listed incorretly in the official results, but they now seem to show the correct lineup.
Deptford’s 1:27.55 broke the Gloucester County record of 1:28.28 set in 2023 by Washington Township at Ocean Breeze. It’s 6th-fastest in state history and 2nd-fastest in South Jersey history indoors, behind only Camden’s iconic 1:26.90 from 2004 Easterns at the Armory with Dwayne Lewis, Sherron Bullock, Alonzo Brown and Carl Smith.
