Junior Jade Pinder smashed her former teammate’s Willingboro school record in the 200 with the fastest time by a Burlington County girl in 26 years Tuesday night at the 90th annual Easterns at the Armory.
Pinder won the 200 in 24.90 after a 24.56 in the trials. That 24.56 broke the school record of 24.59 set lasat year by Nester Wea at Boston Nationals. It’s fastest by a Burlington County girl since Moorestown’s Amandi Rhett won 2000 Easterns at the Armory in 24.46.
Pinder’s time is No. 11 in South Jersey history and No. 6 in New Jersey this year. Corbin Raston of East Orange led all qualifiers in the trials with a 24.47 but didn’t compete in the final.
Pinder is the first Willingboro girl to win an individual event at Easterns in 23 years, since Okechi Ogbuokiri won the 400 in 55.14. She’s the first South Jersey girl to win Eastrns 200 since Winslow’s Shakira Dancy won the 2017 race in 24.39.
Coming into the meet, Pinder’s 200 PR was 24.79 from the Ott Center in January. She nevre broke 26 seconds until her first race this year, at Ocean Breeze in December.
