Glassboro sophomore Moses Robles, already No. 5 in New Jersey this year in the triple jump and tied for No. 4 in the high jump, moved into the No. 2 spot in the long Wednesday at the SJTCA Shoe Company Elite at the Ott Center.
Robles jumped 22-9 ¾ on his 3rd and final attempt to win the long jump by 20 inches and improve his lifetime best from 22-4 ¾ from a meet at the Armory last month. His wind-legal outdoor PR is 20-5 from the freshman long jump at West Philly Nationals last June at Franklin Field.
Robles is currently the No.1 sophomore in New Jersey in both horizontal jumps and No. 2 in the high jump behind Cherry Hill West’s Supreme Stratford, who cleared 6-8 last week. He’s the No. 1 all-time sophomore in Gloucester County in all three events.
He’s also top-ranked in New Jersey Group 1 this year in all three jumps. He’s also No. 3 all-time in Gloucester County in the long jump behind two Woodbury jumpers – Anthony Averet with his 23-7 ¾ at 2012 Easterns at the Armory and Maurice Hunter with a 23-4 ½ in 1983 at a meet I haven’t been able to determine (but not Easterns, which was one of the few meets that had an indoor long jump back then. I should know this because I was working for The Gloucester County Times back then but I don’t!).
