Ocean City’s Elaina Styer smashed her own Stockton University school record in the 60-meter hurdles Friday at Ocean Breeze.
After a near-PR 9.05 in the trials, Styer placed 2nd in the final of the Gotham Cup in 8.93, breaking her school record of 9.03 that she set at a meet in March at Tufts University in Medford, Mass., and then matched at Ocean Breeze last month.
Her time is tied for 10th-fastest on the 2026 NCAA Division 3 list with Rowan sophomore Nyla Jones from Timber Creek, who ran 8.93 last month on the same track.
Styer, from Estell Manor, has high jumped 5-5 ½ an long jumped 18-0 ½ so far this season. She’s not far off school records in both events – 5-6 by Lisa Sheperd of Oakcrest in 2008 and 18-4 ¼ by Jassina Surles from Williamstown in 2016.
