Julia Flanagan ran the fastest mile in Holy Cross history indoors or out Wednesday at the Ott Center.
Flanagan placed 2nd in the Upper Dublin Winter Series in 5:02.25 for a full mile, which converts to 5:00.50 for 1,600 meters.
That breaks the overall Holy Cross record of 5:00.85 set by Kari Vigerstol when she won the 1993 outdoor Meet of Champions at South Plainfield.
It’s No. 10 in Burlington County history indoors and No. 22 on the all-time South Jersey list.
Flanagan finished behind only sophomore Julia Kelly of Downingtown West, who ran 5:00.66. Flanagan negatived 2:32.46 and 2:29.82, closing in 36.34 for her final 200.
This was Flanagan’s first race since the XC Meet of Champions, where she placed 10th after winning the state Parochial B title.
