Junior Maddie Dischert of Brigantine and Atlantic City High School ran the 5th-fastest 3,000 in Rider history over the weekend at the Ott Center.
Dischert ran 9:53.38 and placed 5th at the Penn Select Invitational. That’s a huge PR down from her 10:13.21 from January of 2024 at Ocean Breeze. Dischert did not compete outdoors this past spring, so this was her 1st race on the track since last February.
Her time is fastest in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference so far this season by more than 10 seconds.
Dischert came through 1,000 meters in 3:19.71, then ran her 2nd K in 3:15.02 and her final 1,000 in 3:18.66. She finished behind only four women from Penn.
Dischert did run XC in the fall and was Rider’s top finisher at the MAC Championships in Montgomery, N.Y., placing 14th in the conference meet.
Dischert had a 3,200 PR of 11:12.31 in high school from February 2023 at Ocean Breeze, which is the equivalent of a 10:26.19 for 3,000 meters. So she’s improved by the equivalent of about 33 seconds since she arrived in Lawrenceville.
Next for Rider is the NYC Gotham Cup Friday at Ocean Breeze.
