Riverside grad Sydney Greenidge ran the 4th-fastest 60-meter dash in Vermont history Saturday in her 2nd collegiate meet.
Greenidge, a Vermont freshman, ran 7.80 in the 60 trials at the Ivy vs. America East Challenge at Dartmouth’s Leverone Fieldhouse in Hanover, N.H. Greenidge ran 7.84 and placed 2nd in the final, behind Brown’s Alyssa Jackson, who ran 7.71.
Greenidge’s 7.80 is fastest by a Vermont woman in 17 years, since Jan Carlson set the school record of 7.63. Tied for No. 4 on that list is Willingboro grad Chanel Hamilton, who ran 7.82 in 2008.
Greenidge, the state Group 1 champ last spring with a 12.31 in Somerset, never ran a 60 in high school. Her 55 PR of 7.62 at Ursinus last January converts to 8.31 for 60 meters.
In her first college meet, Greenidge ran 7.93 in a meet in Boston. Greenidge also placed 3rd Saturday in the 200 with a 26.85, breaking her indoor PR of 27.65 also from Ursinus last year. That was her only high school indoor meet.
