A record-setting jumps double today at the Ott Center by Glassboro sophomore Moses Robles, who broke the South Jersey sophomore class triple jump record and the Gloucester County sophomore long jump record.
Robles won the triple jump at 46-4 ½ and long jump at 21-9 ¾.
The best previous indoor sophomore long jump mark I could find is a 43-0 ¾ by Haddon Heights’ Dominique Irons at 2011 Easterns at the Armory. The previous Gloucester County sophomore indoor mark was 41-4 ½ by Delsea’s Tymir Kizee at a meet in 2016 at the Armory.
Nobles’s 21-9 ¾ is the best sophomore long jump by a South Jersey athlete since Chase Campbell of Lenape went 22-7 ½ in a meet at Lehigh’s Rauch Fieldhouse.
On the all-time South Jersey list, Nobles is now No. 10 in the triple jump. He’s No. 5 all-time in Gloucester County in the triple and No. 8 in the long jump.
On Saturday, he hit 21-9 ½ on his 1st attempt and then 21-9 ¾ on his 2nd before fouling on his 3rd. In the triple, he opened with a 44-4 ¾ then jumped 45-8 on his 2nd jump before hitting 46-4 ½ on his 3rdand final attempt.
Robles had indoor PRs of 21-1 and 40-2 as a freshman – he only triple jumped once indoors last year – and outdoors went 21-3 ¼ and 44-5 ½.
