Rowan seniors Kwaku Nkrumah from Teaneck and Jason Agyemang from North Plainfield, who have both won NCAA Division 3 hurdles titles, got the indoor season off to a hot start when they both ran 7.95 in the 60-meter highs Friday at the Fastrack Season Opener at Ocean Breeze.
Nkrumah was given the wind at 7.945, with Agyemang 2nd in 7.947.
Nkrumah was the national champ over the 110-meter highs in Myrtle Beach in 2024. Agyemang won the 60-meter highs last winter in Rochester in 7.76.
Only seven hurdlers in Division 3 – four from Rowan – broke 8.00 last winter. Nkrumah has an indoor PR of 7.87 from a meet in Ithaca in March. Agyemang’s is that 7.76. Agyemang is No. 3 in Division 3 history and Nkrumah is No. 11.
Also for Rowan, senior Valentin Augustin from Hamilton West, a multi-eventer, placed 4th in a personal-best 8.18. His previous PR was 8.27 from a meet in 2023 at Ocean Breeze. And senior Anaias Hughes from Willingboro was 6th in 8.26, just off his PR of 8.17 from last year at the Armory.
