Jacob Cobb from West Deptford places 10th, helping MIT win 27th consecutive NEWMAC championship!!!!!!!!!

West Deptford’s Jacob Cobb helped MIT win its 27th straight NEWMAC Conference title Saturday with a 10th-place finish in Attleboro, Mass.

The NEWMAC is the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference.

Cobb, a senior, ran 25:53.8 over 8.000 meters at the Coogan Cross Country Course and was MIT’s 7th finisher. The Engineers won the team title 20-60 over Worcester (Mass.) Polytech Institute.

MIT is ranked 11th in NCAA Division 3 and 2nd behind only Tufts of Medford and Somerville, Mass., in the East Region.

The Engineers race on Nov. 15 at the Division 3 East Regionals in Hopkinton, N.Y. MIT edged Tufts 56-67 to win last year’s regional meet.

Cobb is one of the top steeplechasers in Division 3. He ran 8:53.62 in a meet last May in Williamstown, Mass., which ranked 11th in Division 3, and he went on to compete in the NCAA Division 3 Championships in Geneva,Ohio.
