Junior Hannah Nuhfer became Delsea’s 3^rd discus thrower to win a Meet of Champions title last week at Pennsauken with the 5^th-best throw in meet history.

Nuhfer threw 156-11 on her 4^th throw and won by more than eight feet. Hillsborough senior Angela Volkova was 2^nd with a 148-8 on her 3^rd throw.

Nuhfer also had throws of 152-1, 154-2 and 149-5, so her 4^th-best throw would have won the competition.

Delsea’s Jamine Moton won the discus in 1996 and Jocelyn White won it in 2003 and 2004. Nuhfer is Delsea’s 8^th Meet of Champions winner overall.

Nuhfer’s 156-11 is the 6^th-best winning throw in meet history and 2^nd-best by a South Jersey thrower. Cherokee’s Jess Woodard won the 2013 meet with a 161-1 throw. Volkova’s 148-8 is the 2nd-best non-winning throw in meet history, behind only Nuhfer’s 152-6 last year.

Nuhfer is ranked 13^th in the U.S. this year and 4^th among juniors on the MileSplit national database with her PR of 161-4 from the state Group 3 meet at South Plainfield. She’s been over 155 feet in her last four meets.

Nuhfer set the South Jersey shot put record of 47-9 at South Jersey Group 3 sectionals at her home track in Franklinville. She only threw the discus at Meet of Champions.

Winslow senior Brook-lynn Roberts placed 3^rd in the MoC discus with a 140-2, and Glassboro junior Sunsarai Moore was 4^th at 136-6 and was the 2^nd underclassman, giving South Jersey three of the top four spots for the 2^nd straight year. In 2024, Nuhfer was 2^nd, Moore 3^rd and Roberts 4^th.
