The full *.pdf is here, but I thought I’d post the top five seeds in every event.  All seeds are pulled directly from MileSplit, so if there’s an error there, there’s an error here.  This meet is loaded with almost every top boy and girl from South Jersey entered. There should be some tremendous marks.

Williamstown’s Anna Sasse ran the fastest 800 by a Rowan woman in 31 years Saturday in Ewing.

Sasse won the 800 at the TCNJ Lions Invitational in 2:13.74, lowering her PR from 2:15.02 from the same meet in 2023.

Her time is 2^nd-fastest in Rowan history behind only Marcia Baker of Newark West Side, who ran 2:12.74 when she placed 2^nd to Heather O’Shea of Mount Union at the 1994 NCAA Division 3 Championships in Naperville, Ill.

Sasse is now No. 3 in the NJAC, behind Stockton’s Kayla Kass [2:07.13] and TCNJ’s Kelly O’Grady [2:12.82]. She broke into the NCAA Division 3 performance list at No. 41.

Sasse was out in 66.2 and back in 67.5. She won by 10 meters over one-time 2:04 half-miler Stephanie Herrick, who ran at Wayne Valley and TCNJ and is now director of youth program development for the New York Road Runners. Herrick was 2^nd in 2:15

Sasse never broke 2:20 at Williamstown, PR’ing at 2:20.84 at 2021 South Jersey Group 4 sectionals at Washington Township.

Sasse is also No. 2 in the NJAC with her 1,500 PR of 4:39.98 from last month at Widener, behind only Stockton’s Madelyn Valasek from Shawnee, who PR’d at 4:39.10 this weekend at TCNJ. She’s Rowan’s fastest at 1,500 meters since Haddonfield’s Vanessa Wright ran 4:31.72 in Springfield, Mass., in 2013.

Pemberton graduate Reyanna Henderson, a senior at New Jersey City, has PR’d in all three sprints in recent weeks leading up to this weekend’s NJAC Championships in Ewing.

Henderson is the No. 1 seed in the 100 with her lifetime-best 12.24 with legal wind at the Ramapo Invitational in Mahwah, she’s the No. 3 seed in the 200 with her PR 24.86 two weeks ago at the Hopkins Loyola Invitational in Baltimore, and she’s the No. 5 seed in the 400 with her PR 57.60, also from Hopkins Loyola.

Before this stretch of races, Henderson had collegiate PRs of 12.64, 25.45 and 58.47. She now ranks No. 3 in the 200 and No. 3 in the 400 in New Jersey City history. Can’t determine where she ranks in the 100 since only two names are listed in their “all-time performance list,” which stops at 11.97.

Henderson had PRs of 12.57 and 58.93 at Pemberton despite missing her senior year because of COVID. She never ran a 200 in high school.

Delsea graduate Ava Reardon popped the 3rd-best javelin throw in Georgian Court history and the best in eight years Saturday in Ewing.

Reardon, a sophomore, threw a lifetime-best 139-2 to win the javelin at the TCNJ Invitational. Her previous best was a 130-4 last May at West Point, N.Y.

Reardon also had throws of 132-5 and 133-10, so she recorded her three-best throws ever in this series.

At Delsea, Reardon had a PR of 116-4 from South Jersey Group 3 sectionals at Delsea in 2023. Reardon was an incredibly versatile athlete at Delsea. Not only did she have success with the javelin, she also placed in the top six in the 1,600 at 2023 indoor sectionals at the Bubble and ran on Delsea’s 4th-place 800-meter relay team at the 2022 state Group 3 Relays with Emily Hill, Juline Nwosu and Samantha Cole.

Her 139-2  from this weekend trails only Alyssa Whipkey of Pennsville [143-0 in 2017] and Amy Berry of Manchester Township [140-7 in 2014] on the all-time Georgian Court performance list.

Reardon is now atop the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference javelin rankings, and she’s No. 2 on the NCAA Division 2 East Region performance list, behind only Malina Bohlmann of Assumption in Worcester, Mass.

The CACC Championships are scheduled for this weekend at Georgian Court in Lakewood.

Junior Benjamin Andrus and senior Bennett Wright became the 4th- and 5th-fastest two-milers in Haddonfield history Monday night in Holmdel.

Andrus ran 9:08.27 and Wright 9:09.17 at the Holmdel Twilight Series Night of 3200s at Bob Roggy Stadium. They placed 2nd and 4th of more than 400 runners in 18 sections of 3200s.

Manalapan junior Clay Stevens won the race in 9:07.30 and Colts Neck junior Jay Admala was 3rd in 9:08.33.

Haddonfield had three sub-9:10 runners in its history before adding two more on Monday. Jim Smith ran 9:00.3 (converted from 9:03.4 for two miles) in 1980, Seth Clevenger ran 9:03.65 in 2022 and Jonathan Vitez ran 9:06.47 in 2010.

The race produced the six-fastest times in New Jersey this year.

Andrus and Wright both ran their previous PRs at Cherokee Night of Racing earlier this month, Andrus with 9:17.23 and Wright 9:18.81.

Another Haddonfield two-miler, junior Peter Simpson broke 9:20, placing 8th in 9:17.54. His previous PR was 9:26.05 indoors at the Meet of Champions at Ocean Breeze last month. And junior Ryan Gibson PR’d at 9:25.67.

Glassboro’s Joey Saicic was the 2nd-fastest freshman in the race, taking 23rd overall in 9:34.21. That’s 5th-fastest ever by a South Jersey freshman and the fastest New Jersey Group 1 freshman since Ben Devenezia of Mountain Lakes ran 9:32.80 at 2012 states at Old Bridge. Saicic’s previous PR was a 9:58.80 indoors in January at the Armory. This was his first open outdoor race in high school.

It’s impossible to write posts on everybody South Jersey athlete that excels at the Penn Relays just because there are so many of them. Doesn’t help that it’s one of the busiest non-track weekends of the year as well, and I just don’t have the time.

But that doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface so here’s a look at an addition 13 South Jersey athletes or relay teams that turned in notable performances over three days at the 129th running of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field.

Aliya Garozzo
Paul VI graduate Aliya Garozzo led off Duke’s 1,600-meter relay team, which won the Championship of America in 3:27.77, with Garozzo splitting 52.9. She’s the first South Jersey woman to race on a Championship of America 4-by-4 winner in 18 years, since Winslow’s Krystal Cantey led off for South Carolina, which won in 3:29.78 in 2007. Duke’s 3:27.77 is 2^nd-fastest in school history and 10^th-fastest in Penn Relays history. The 2023 team ran 3:27.14 at Penn, placing 3^rd. Julia Jackson of Scotch Plains-Fanwood ran the second leg for Duke. Garozzo graduated in the spring from Penn and is a grad student at Duke, so she was running on her former home track. She also placed 3^rd in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.01. Pennsville’s Arianna Smith, a junior at Howard, was 5^th in 57.71.

Willingboro Girls 4-by-4
The Chimeras won the South Jersey Small-School 1,600-Meter Relay in 3:51.17, then lowered their time to 3:50.22 in the Philadelphia Area Championship Race, with Maya Bolden, Adiyah Robinson, Kaila Speight and Nester Wea racing, Wea anchoring in 56.64. The time is Willingboro’s fastest since 2003, when they ran 3:47.30 to win the South Jersey Large-School race. Boro also won South Jersey races – either small- or large-school or combined some years – in 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2023 and 2024. So this was their 3^rd straight win. Winslow Township [3:43.46], Pennsauken [3:50.21], Willingboro [3:50.22] and Kingsway [3:55.37] are now No. 1, 5, 6 and 8 in New Jersey this year. Kingsway’s 3:55.36 was only 2-100ths of a second off the program’s Penn Relays PR of 3:55.34 in 2013.

Hannah Byrd-Leitner
Byrd-Leitner, a Moorestown senior, cleared 12-11 – just three inches off her PR – and placed 2^nd in the pole vault Friday. It wasn’t her sharpest day – she had early misses at 11-9 ¼ and 12-3 ¼ and by the time she jumped at 13-3 she had already taken 10 vaults. But her 12-11 is No. 1 in New Jersey this year and her 4^th-highest clearance ever. Veronica Vacca of Mount St. Joseph Academy in Springfield Township, Montgomery County, won her 3^rd straight Penn Relays title with a 13-3 clearance on her 2^nd attempt.

Bryce Tucker
Rutgers sophomore Bryce Tucker from Pennsauken placed 3^rd in the 400-meter hurdles championship on Thursday in 50.79, his fastest time this year and only 18-100ths of a second off his lifetime-best 50.61 from his win at the Big Ten Championships last May in Ann Arbor. Tucker’s 50.79 is 4^th-fastest in the conference so far this year

Jaden Johnson
Johnson, an East Stroudsburg sophomore from Timber Creek, jumped a season-best 47-7 ¼ to place 4^thin the triple jump at Penn on Friday. He only managed two legal jumps in his series, but the 47-7 ¼ is 4^th-best in the PSAC this year and just 6 ½ inches off his PR of 48-1 ¾ from an indoor meet in Boston in February.

Cherokee Girls 4×8
After running 9:15.02 on Friday morning to win their Large-School 3,200-Meter Relay section, Cherokee smashed the school record in the Championship of America race and placed 8^th in 9:13.67. They placed 5^th among U.S. schools. Alyssa Suriano led off in 2:17.61, Megan Niglio ran 2:20.77, Sofia Recinto split 2:17.31 and Maddie Meder anchored in 2:17.99. Cherokee’s previous outdoor school record was 9:14.25 from the 2023 Championship of America race. The 9:13.67 is 8^th-fastest in South Jersey history and 3^rd-fastest in Burlington County history, fastest since Lenape ran 9:05.62 at 2012 Greensboro Nationals. Cherokee ran 9:07.27 indoors at 2022 Armory Nationals with Kelsey Niglio, Kerry O’Day, Megan Niglio and Nicole Clifford.

Gabriel Moronta
South Florida placed 2^nd to Texas A&M in the Championship of America 4-by-4 with Pleasantville graduate Gabriel Moronta anchoring in 45.16 for the Bulls. South Florida ran 3:02.69, 3^rd-fastest in school history. Moronta has run on all three. Their time is Moronta is South Florida’s 400 school-record holder with his 45.31 in Gainesville earlier this month. South Florida’s time is No. 7 in NCAA Division 1 this year.

Rowan Women’s 4-by-4
Freshman Nyla Jones from Timber Creek, senior Jasmine Broadway from Burlington Township, freshman Ava Reilly from Toms River East and senior Molly Lodge from Woodstown ran a season-best 3:48.10, with Lodge anchoring in 56.15. That’s 11^th-fastest in NCAA Division 3 this year. They qualified for the College Final but didn’t race.

Ma’Syiah Brawner
Winslow junior Ma’Syiah Brawner placed 6^th in the triple jump at Penn and 3^rd among U.S. jumpers with a season-best 39-11 ½ on her 1^st attempt. She added three more jumps over 39 feet in a huge series – 39-8 ¾, 39-3 ¾ and 39-3 ¼. She fouled twice, but her four legal jumps averaged 39-6 ¾. She’s now the No. 4 junior in the U.S., according to MileSplit’s database.

Haddonfield Boys
With their 10:13.01 for 7^th in the Championship of America, Haddonfield recorded the fastest distance medley time by a South Jersey school in nine years and 6^th-fastest all-time.  Senior Bennet Wright led off with a 3:07.42 for 1,200 meters, sophomore Jack Brand ran his lap in 51.00 seconds, junior Luke Andressen split 1:58.65 on the 800 and junior Ben Andrus anchored in 4:15.94. It’s the fastest South Jersey DMR since Haddonfield ran 10:10.62 at Penn in 2016 with Derek Gess, Luke Colehower, Austin Stoner and Greg Pelose.

Isabella Turner
Georgia Tech senior Isabella Turner from Shawnee lowered her 5,000 PR from 16:54.03 from the Raleigh Relays last month to 16:52.10. Turner never ran a 5,000 her first three years at Georgia Tech. She ran 17:09.83, 16:54.03 and now 16:52.10 in her three 5,000 races. She’s the fastest Shawnee alum over 5,000 meters since La Salle’s Jenna Darcy, who ran 16:34.70 in Kingston, R.I., in 2005.

Stockton Women 4×4
The Ospreys won the CTC 4-by-4 in 3:53.54, with senior Kayla Sullivan from Delaware Valley, junior Emma Conroy from Matawan, junior Emma Petrolia from New Milford and Bayonne junior Kayla Kass, the No. 2 800 runner in Division 3 at 2:07.13.

Kami Joi Hickson
Hickson, a former Washington Township runner, led off Maryland’s school-record 4-by-8 team, which ran 8:42.42. Previous school record was their 8:42.96 at Penn.

The Winslow girls raced to a berth in the Penn Relays Championship of America 1,600-Meter Relay and destroyed a 24-year-old South Jersey record Saturday at Franklin Field.

Freshman Amariah Arango, freshman Jasmine Jackson, sophomore Skyhe Seamon and sophomore Cinniya Robinson ran 3:43.46 to win the South Jersey Large-School race and earn a lane in the nine-team Championship of America race later Saturday. Winslow’s time was 6th-fastest of nearly 500 schools that raced in various 4-by-4 sections.

Winslow was the 2nd-fastest U.S. school in the 1,600-meter relay trials, behind only St. John’s College of Washington, D.C., which ran 3:41.21.

Winslow broke the South Jersey record of 3:43.94 set by Willingboro’s Halimah Bashir, Chanel Hamilton, Danielle Myrics and Okechi Ogbuokiri at 2001 Greensboro Nationals.

The time is No. 10 in New Jersey history behind five times from the Scotch Plains-based all-star program, three performances by Columbia of Maplewood and one by the legendary 1998 Montclair team with Aleah Williams and the Barber twins.

Winslow’s 3:43.46 is fastest by a New Jersey public school in 11 years, since Columbia ran 3:41.19 at 2014 Greensboro Nationals.

The high school girls Championship of America 1,600-Meter Relay is the final event on the track at Penn. It’s scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.

In the South Jersey race, Amariah Arango led off with a 55.97 split, followed by Jackson in 55.43. Seamon ran 56.74 and Robinson anchored in 55.34.

Average split: 55.87.

Winslow broke the meet record of 3:46.04 set last year by Timber Creek’s Naylah Jones, Billie Frazier, Taylor Gaines and Ryan Jennings. It’s the first time Winslow has won since 2018.

The fastest previous South Jersey time at Penn was Clayton’s 3:44.67 when they placed 6th in the 2022 Championship of America race. Winslow’s fastest previous time was a 3:48.08 when they ran 3rd in the 2017 Philadelphia Area race.

Willingboro, Kingsway and Pennsauken are among schools that qualified for the Philadelphia Area Championship Race, scheduled for 5:55 p.m. Saturday.

Pennsauken was 2nd in 3:50.21, breaking the school record of 3:51.11 set at 2023 West Philly Nationals on the same track. Junior Sianni Wynn had the fastest split of the race with a 52.07 second leg. Junior Olivia Dupree, senior Ameenah Rodriguez and junior Sanaya Dupree also raced for Pennsauken, Olivia Dupree in 59.44, Rodriguez 1:00.17 and Sanaya Dupree 58.55.

Kingsway and Eastern also broke four minutes, Kingsway in 3rd in 3:55.37 with sophomore Norah Brown, senior Camryn Stanard, senior Jonnelle Lewis and freshman Naomi Haller, and Eastern 4th in 3:58.13 with senior Samantha Osei-Kyei, senior Jasmine Davies, sophomore Jolie Merhi and junior Natalie Dumas. Lewis split 55.34 for Kingsway and Dumas 55.27 for Eastern.

Willingboro won the Small-School race in 3:51.17 with sophomore Maya Bolden, senior Nester Wea, Adiyah Robinson and junior Kaila Speight. That’s the Chimeras’ fastest time at Penn since they ran 3:47.30 to win the 2003 South Jersey Large-School race. Bolden led off in 57.48, Wea ran 55.07, Robinson split 59.86 and Speight anchored in 58.78.

Lindenwold junior Egypt Bolan, the indoor Meet of Champions winner, placed 3rd in the high jump Friday at the Penn Relays with a PR and a spot in the all-time South Jersey top-10.

Bolan cleared 5-8 ¾ on her 1st attenpt and was the top American jumper, finishing behind Shanniqua Williams of St. Andrew in Jamaica [5-11 ½] and Danielle Noble of Wolmer’s Girls [5-9 ¾].

That 5-8 ¾ equals No. 8 in South Jersey history and No. 1 in New Jersey this year.

Bolan, who had a previous PR of 5-8, had a miss at 5-7 but cleared 5-8 on her 1st attempt before her breakthrough 5-8 ¾. She took three jumps at 5-9 ¾ before calling it a day.

She’s the first South Jersey girl to clear 5-8 ¾ or better since Willingboro’s Kenady Wilson cleard 5-8 ¾ at 2019 Greensoro Nationals. Her 5-8 ¾ clearance matches the best by a South Jersey jumper in seven years, since Timber Creek’s Tierra Hooker – the Camden County record holder – cleared 5-10 at 2018 Group 3 states in Bayville.

It’s No. 3 all-time by a South Jersey underclassman, behind Megan Kirschling of West Deptford, who cleared 5-10 ½ at 2012 Group 3 states in South Plainfield, and Hooker, who cleared 5-10 as a junior at 2017 Group 3 states in Bayville.

Woodstown graduate Molly Lodge’s 56.15 anchor led the Rowan women to the 9^th-fastest 4-by-4 in NCAA Division 3 this year Friday at the 129th running of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field.

Rowan ran 3:48.10 at Franklin Field, with freshman Nyla Jones from Timber Creek leading off, ,senior Jasmine Broadway of Burlington Township running 2^nd, freshman Ava Reilly from Toms River East splitting 57.08 and senior Lodge of Woodstown anchoring in 56.15.

Rowan raced without their fastest 400 runner, Triton graduate and two-time NJAC 400 champ Nevaeh Lorjuste, who anchored the 4th-place 4-by-4 at NCAA Division I 3 Nationals in Myrtle Beach. Her 55.46 is No. 2 in school history. We’ll see if she runs Saturday.

Rowan qualified for the College Championship 1,600-Meter Relay, scheduled for 5:20 p.m. Saturday. They’ll start in Lane 2.

 

The Ocean City girls ran the 3rd-fastest distance medley in South Jersey history Friday at the 129th running of the Penn Relays, placing 8th in the Championship of America race at Franklin Field.

Senior Chloe Care, sophomore Alana Clevenger, sophomore Carly Godfrey and junior Maeve Smith ran 11:58.64, which trails only Lenape’s 11:53.15 at 2012 Greensboro Nationals with Camille Franklin, Ana de las Heras, Emily McGee and Natalia Ocasio, and Cherokee’s 11:54.48 at 2023 West Philly Nationals with Megan Niglio, Madison Van Haren, Kelsey Niglio and Kerry O’Day.

Care led off in 3:42.74, Clevenger split 61.24, Godfrey ran 2:13.27 and Snith anchored in 5:01.96. Ocean City broke the Cape May County record of 12:08.61 set by the 2014 Ocean City team of Devin Grisbaum, Cierra Granger, Rachel Stremme and Bridget Flynn at the Rowan Open in Glassboro.
