Monmouth’s Ahmad Brock from Egg Harbor wins CAA long jump title, big mile PR for Delaware’s Leah Clear from Camden Catholic!!!!!!

Monmouth senior Ahmad Brock from Egg Harbor Township won the long jump with a 23-10 ¼ on his final jump Wednesday afternoon at the Coastal Athletic Association Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.

That’s Brock’s first conference title in the long jump. He’s won two in the triple jump.

Brock also advanced in the 60 with a 6.88 in the qualifying. The 60 final is at 1:16 p.m. Thursday. Monmouth junior Aaron Brooks from Eastern PR’d in the long jump with a 23-3 ½ for 4th place.

Camden Catholic graduate Leah Clear, a sophomore at Delaware, ran a big mile PR in the qualifying rounds.

Clear ran 4:56.32 , 9th-fastest in school history, and advanced to Thursday’s final. Her previous PR was 4:57.05 from the final at last year’s CAA meet, which was at the Armory.

Her time was 2nd-fastest among the 12 qualifiers for the final. Kyra Holland of William and Mary ran 4:55.145 in a separate semifinal. The final is scheduled for noon on Thursday.

Also Wednesday in Virginia Beach, Monmouth freshman Nico Grilli from Cherokee ran 4:13.23 to advance to the men’s mile final at 12:10 p.m. Thursday.

Monmouth senior Meredith Updike from Cinnaminson ran a PR 8.80 in the 60-meter hurdles trials, 8th-fastest in school history. Her previous PR was 8.85 last month at the Armory. She advanced to the final at 12:25 p.m. Thursday.

Kingsway graduate Stone Caraccio, a Monmouth senior, advanced to the 800 final after running 1:53.85 in Wednesday’s trials. The final is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Monmouth freshman Nick Kuenkel from Cherokee PR’d in the 5,000 with a 14:48.90 for 11th place.
