Ty Blackman scored 28 points to lead Glassboro to 3rd straight sectional championship!!!!!!

Senior Ty Blackman won the 1,600 and 3,200 and placed 3rd in the 800 to lead Glassboro to its 3rd straight sectional title and 4th overall.

Glassboro more than doubled 2nd-place Woodstown, winning the South Jersey Group 1 championship 83 ½-40, with Haddon Township [32] and Woodbury [30] 3rd and 4th. Glassboro also won SJ-1 in 2009 as well as 2023 and 2024.

Blackman ran 4:35.51, 10:00.31 and 2:04.57 for 26 points on his own. Freshman Joseph Saicic was 2nd in both the 1,600 [PR 4:35.91] and 3,200 [10:03.65], and sophomore Lucas Kudless was 4th in the 3,200 in 10:17.47.

That’s 46 points in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200, enough to win the team title just with the Bulldog distance team.

Glassboro got two wins in the field, with junior Amari Sabb winning the high jump at 6-0 and senior Kyle Williams taking 1st in the shot put at 49-5 ¾.

Senior Dayshaun Day placed 3rd in the hurdles in 8.07, freshman Moses Robles cleared 5-10 for 3rd in the high jump and freshman Mehki Parker picked up 5ths in the hurdles with a PR 8.23 and in the high jump at 5-8 in his first meet in the event.

Junior Joshua Crawford won the 800 with an indoor PR of 2:01.51 and also won the 400 in 51.03. Senior Cole Lucas ran 2:01.72 for 2nd in the 800. Lucas, junior Karson Chew, junior Anthony Costello and Crawford ran 3:32.34 for 2nd in the 4-by-4.

Salem senior Anthony Parker won the 55-meter hurdles in 7.71, breaking the meet record of 7.72 set in 2013 by Haddon Township’s Carson Harter.

Woodbury senior Marquis Taylor won the 55 in 6.45 and ran on Woodbury’s winning 4-by-4 along with juniors Shiwoe Varpilah, Elijah Young and Jasir Brown. Also, Young cleared 5-10 for 2nd place in the high jump.

For Clayton, Senior Alexander Osayemi ran 51.27 for 2nd in the 400 and Pedro Ibarra was 3rd in the shot at 44-10 ½. Buena junior Yandel Montanez ran 51.72 for 3rd in the 400, and senior Daniel Fonseca was 2nd in the shot at 45-11. Haddon Township senior Andres Santiago placed 2nd in the hurdles in 7.82 and senior teammate Shaun Maloney was 3rd in the 800 at 4;37.90.

Also, Schalick sophomore David Stewart placed 3rd in the 55 in 6.65, Gateway junior David Houck was 3rd in the 3,200 in 10:16.67 and Camden junior Jaiden Steele ran 6.63 for 2nd in the 55. Audubon junior Kowie Limbaga, sophomore Evan Calhoun, junior Paul Davis and junior Dylan Gallagher ran 3:35.72 for 3rd in the 4-by-4.
