Maryland senior Kami Joi Hickson from Washington Township ran an 800 PR at Penn State Friday and the 2nd-fastest time in Terrapins history.
Hickson ran 2:07.63 at the Penn State National Open in State College, lowering her PR from 2:08.15 from a meet this past April in Azusa, Calif., and dropping her collegiate indoor PR 2:09.51 from a meet this past February in Boston. She did run 2:08.58 at 2019 Armory Nationals
The only faster indoor time in University of Maryland history is 2:06.54 by Julie Sinkovitz from Woodcliff Lake, Bergen Catholic, and Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township, Bergen County. So Maryland’s top two indoor half-milers are both from Washington Township in New Jersey – just different ones.
Anyway, Hickson’s time is No. 6 in the Big Ten Conference this year.
Hickson ran 2:12.04 as a freshman at Washington Township and placed 7th in the Meet of Champions at Northern Burlington. She finished her high school career at Neumann Goretti in South Philadelphia.
