Henry Cifaloglio joins elite 15-0 club, Delsea wins pole vault at state Group 3 relays!!!!!!

Delsea senior Henry Cifaloglio moved into the No. 6 spot on the all-time South Jersey indoor pole vault list with a 15-0 clearance at the Group 3 state relays.

It’s the Bubble so we get no field event progression, which is preposterous in this day and age. But the Bubble is stupid. So no splits on the track and no event progression in the field.

But Cifaloglio became the 9th South Jersey vaulter to clear 15 feet indoors, 3rd from Delsea and 6th from Gloucester County.

Cifaloglio is the 2nd Gloucester County vaulter to clear 15 feet this indoor season. Deptford’s Marcus Hood did it last month at a meet at the Ott Center. Hood cleared 15-3 outdoors last spring.

Cifaloglio’s indoor PR was 12-0 coming into this season. He cleared 14-0 at the state Group 3 meet at Delsea last spring and had just cleared 14-6 for the first time earlier this month at the Ott.

Delsea junior Mason Murray cleared 11-6, and the Crusader won the pole vault relay at the Group 3 State Relays with a combined 26-6. Deptford was 2nd with Hood [14-0] and junior Mason Henry [11-6].

Sophia Staiger from Eastern obliterates 5,000 PR and moves into American’s all-time top-10!!!!!!

American University junior Sophia Staiger from Eastern ran a huge 5,000 PR and the No. 9 time in school history Friday at Ocean Breeze.

Staiger won the 5,000 at the NYC Gotham Cup in 17:50.69, lapping the entire field along the way. She destroyed her PR of 18:27.39 from an outdoor meet in Fairfax, Va., in April (where she finished a step ahead of Moorestown graduate Kate Inglis of Catholic University, also in Washington). This was Staiger’s first indoor 5,000.

Staiger took the lead for good on the sixth lap. After nine laps, she still only led by one second, but she gradually pulled away from the field and ran away with the race, covering her 1,000s in 3:35.09, 3:34.93, 3:38.16, 3:32.76 and 3:29.75.

Delaware State’s Chris Johnson from Willingboro pops shot put PR and #1 throw in the MEAC (and likely school record) at Ocean Breeeze!!!!!!

Willingboro graduate Chris Johnson, a junior at Delaware State, popped a shot put PR and the No. 1 throw this year in the MEAC Saturday Friday in the Gotham Cup at Ocean Breeze.

Johnson threw 54-3 1/4 on his final attempt to pass Robbie Babson of Georgian Court, who was leading with a 54-0 3/4, and win the event.

Johnso’s previous indoor PR was 54-2 from a 2nd-place finish at the indoor MEAC meet in Virginia Beach this past February.

He also had a 53-5 1/4 in his series on Friday.

Delaware State is one of few programs that doesn’t list school records on its web site, but the best throw I found was a 54-6 1/2 outdoors by Tyrell Martin two years ago. Johnson’s 54-3 1/4 is the best indoor mark I found going back to 2010, which is as far back as TFRRS goes.

Rowan’s Kwaku Nkrumah blazes to No. 10 hurdles mark in NCAA Division 3 history!!!!!!!!

Rowan junior Kwaku Nkrumah, the NCAA Division 3 national champion over the 110-meter high hurdles in the spring, blasted an indoor hurdles PR and the No. 10 mark in Division 3 history Saturday at Ocean Breeze.

Nkrumah lowered his PR from 7.92 to 7.90 at the NYC Gotham Cup. Here’s a look at the all-time D-3 hurdles list.

Post-grad Edward Williams, a former IC4A champ at Central Connecticut, won the race in 7.86. Nkrumah was 2nd and Sterling grad Marquise Young placed 3rd in 7.99, just off his lifetime best of 7.96 from last year on the same track. That’s No. 16 in D-3 history.

Rowan sophomore Jason Agyemang from North Plainfield was 4th in 8.23 and junior Michael Lawrence from South Plainfield 6th with a PR 8.28.

Rowan freshman Jamir Brown, the NCAA D-3 record holder with his 7.72 last month, ran 8.17 in the trials and qualified for the final but didn’t finish.

Brown is No. 1 this year in Division 3, Nkrumah No. 3 and Young No. 4.

Here’s my best attempt at an all-time Rowan sub-8.10 list:
7.72 … Jamir Brown [Riverside], 2025 [Staten Island, N.Y.]
7.90 … Kwaku Nkrumah [Teaneck], 2025 [Staten Island, N.Y.]
7.96 … Marquis Young [Sterling], 2024 [Staten Island, N.Y.]
7.98 … David Benjamin [Freehold Twp.], 2017 [Naperville, Ill.]
8.01 … Bobby Cooks [McArthur, Pembroke Pines, Fla.], 2018 [Ithaca, N.Y.]
8.07 … Jacob Kiyler [Toms River North], 2024 [Staten Island, N.Y.]
8.08 … Jason Agyemang [North Plainfield], 2024 [Rochester, N.Y.]

Senior Ty Blackman, junior Jaeden Wesley, freshman Aaron Johnson and freshman Joseph Saicic ran 10:56.39 to win the DMR – sorry, it’s the Bubble, so no splits available – and junior Amari Sabb and freshman Moses Robles combined to win the high jump relay, Sabb clearing 6-0 and Robles 5-10.

Glassboro outscored 2nd-place Hasbrouck Heights 39-29 in Group 1, with Camden 3rd [28], Woodstown 4th [24], Woodbury 6th [18], Salem and Audubon tied for 9th [11] and Haddon Township tied for 10th [10].

(Note that Glassboro and Woodbury both have a freshman named Aaron Johnson. He did not transfer in the middle of the meet. Different guy!)

Senior Jacob George cleared 13-6 and sophomore Bobby McIlvain 10-0, and Haddon Township won the pole vault relay.

And Audubon took 2nd in the high jump relay, with senior Thomas Weick clearing 6-0 and junior Dylan Gallagher 5-6.

Adams, Hurly, Pinkerton and Ritter ran 33.01 and edged 2nd-place Willingboro, which ran 33.51 with Trinity Brapah, Chyanne Edwin, Jaden Murry and senior Nester Wea.

Haddonfield outscored Rumson-Fair Haven 58-44, with Point Pleasant Borough [32] 3rd and Willingboro [30] 4th.

Haddonfield won Group 1 in 2000, 2001, 2003, 2014 and 2016 and Group 2 in 2017, 2020, 2022 and 2024.

Only Willingboro, with 10 championships, has won more state relays than Haddonfield. Columbia, Hopewell Valley and Union Catholic havee also won 10.

Luke Andresen, Benjamin Andrus lead Haddonfield to close win over Willingboro at Group 2 state relays!!!!!!

Juniors Luke Andresen and Benjamin Andrus both on on the winning 3,200-meter relay and 2nd-place distance medley as Haddonfield won its 7th state relays title – and first in 11 years – Thursday.

Haddonfield edged Willingboro, 42 1/2-41, to win the Group 2 title at the Bubble in Toms River. It was Haddonfield’s first state relays title in Group 2. The Bulldogs won Group 1 in 1989, 1996, 2001, 2002, 2010 and 2014.

Juniors Peter Simpson and Aaron Keith, Andresen and Andrus won the 4-by-800 in 8:20.72, and Andrus, freshman Jack Brand, Andresen and senior Bennett Wright ran 10:38.45 for 2nd place in the DMR. That’s the fastest DMR in South Jersey this year and Haddonfield’s fastest since 2019, when Derek Gess, Martin Riddell, Greg Eisenhower and Zach Murray ran 10:34.34 to win the race at the Group 2 Relays at the Bubble.

Haddonfield also placed 2nd in the shuttle hurdles, with junior Mark DiMedio, sophomore Ryder Bozine, sophomore Harrison Berman and senior Brant Nicholls running 32.12 and 2nd in the sprint medley with Brand, senior Kai Richards, freshman Brayden Shim and Wright running 3:41.84.

It was Haddonfield’s 4-by-4, racing out of an unseeded heat, that clinched the team title with two big team points.

The Bulldogs also got half a point in the high jump relay with Bozine [5-6] and junior Mark DiMedio [5-4] tying for 6th.

Willingboro won the 800-meter relay in 1:34.56 with senior Jamere Brooks, junior Christopher Jones, junior Christopher Scott and senior Somad Iyiola and the 4-by-4 in 3;33.60 with Scott, senior Nasier Fields, Iyiola and Jones.

Haddon Heights placed 2nd in the 800-meter relay in 1:35.45 with seniors Xavier Nesbeth, Josh Rehn, Lo’Renzo Lagual and Daniel Furlong.

Macy Huber anchors PVI to fastest DMR in South Jersey this year and school record at state relays!!!!!!

Junior Macy Huber anchored the 3rd-place sprint medley and 4th-place distance medley, and Paul VI placed 5th in the Parochial A division of the state relays at the Bubble Wednesday.

Senior Devin Phillips, freshman McKayla Hutchinson and freshman Jules Jackson joined Huber on the sprint med and freshman Peyton Blake, senior Madison Eli and sophomore Grace Gutowski on the DMR.

Bubble results do not show splits, unfortunately. They have the platform to do it, they just choose not to. Stupid Bubble.

Anyway, Paul VI’s 12:30.53 is fastest by a South Jersey school this winter and 5th-fastest in the state so far. It looks like PVI broke the school record of 12:31.11 set last year at Ocean Breeze by Claire Magee, Giovanna Mantuano, Huber and Shaelan McNally. The sprint medley ran 4:26.01

Magee, Eli, junior Daniela Vogel and Phillips placed 4th in the 1,600-meter relay in 4:12.72, and freshman McKayla McHutchinson, Vogel, Jackson and Eli ran 1:54.05 for 6th in the 800-meter relay.

Paul VI took 2nd in the vole vault relay, with junior Gianna Cianfrani clearing 9-6 and senior  Claudia Crabtree 8-0.

YOU WON’T BELIEVE THE 800 THAT GLASSBORO HIGH’S DALLAS HOHNEY JUST RAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glassboro High’s Dallas Hohney blazed a huge PR in the 800 Saturday, PR’ing by a staggering 5 1/2 seconds and recording the 3rd-fastest time in Rider history.

Would you believe 1:50.71?

Unreal performance! Nobody PR’s by 5 1/2 seconds in the 800!

Hohney placed 2nd at the Penn Select at the Ott Center in West Philly, finishing behind only Princeton graduate and two-time Ivy League champion Russell Dinkins, a 1:48.10 half-miler who raced at the U.S. Championships last spring.

Hohney is an incredible story.

He never ran an 800 in high school, competed briefly for Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C., then resurfaced at Rider this time last year. He ran 1:57.46 in March in what looks like his first 800 ever and also ran 48.35 indoors.

In the spring, he lowered his 400 time to 48.15 in a home meeet and his 800 to 1:56.20 at a meet at Franklin Field.

On Saturday, he raced for the first time since IC4As in May in Fairfax and ran a mind-boggling race in his 4th lifetime 800 and – get this – his first indoor 800 ever.

On Saturday, Hohney was out in 26.0 and came through the 400 in 53.15 and the 600 in 1:21.84 before closing in 28.88. DInkins won the race in 1:50.38.

Hohney’s time trails only Tamrat Snyder of Gaithersburg, Md., and Jonathan Jackson of Roselle on the all-time Rider list. Snyder ran 1:49.32 in a meet in Nashviulle in 2023 and Jackson ran 1:50.53 in 2015 at the Armory.

Snyder holds the Rider outdoor record at 1:47.70, but only five other Rider half-milers have gone faster outdoors.

Hohney’s time is 9th-fastest in NCAA Division 1 and No. 1 – by almost eight seconds – in the Metro Atlantic Conference.

Rancocas Valley’s Ian Moore was 3rd in the race in 1:51.11, which moved him up to 7th on the all-time Monmouth performance list.

Other South Jersey runners in the 800 field were St. Joe grad student Jayden Green from Washington Township [5th in 1:52.78], St. Joe’s senior Josh Thaler from Timber Creeek [6th in 1:54.06], Monmouths senior Stone Caraccio from Kingsway [8th in 1:54.43], Rutgers freshman Robert Poplau from Cherokee [9th in 1:54.57], Monmouth sophomore Conor Jacob from Cherokee [14th in 1:56.23].
