The Winslow girls didn’t wait long for the first sub-4 performance from their 1,600-meter relay team.

Winslow ran 3:58.12 to win the 4-by-4 at the season-opening South Jersey Track Coaches Association meet at Penn’s new Ott Center in West Philly Saturday.

Winslow had a 35-meter lead after the leadoff legs and finished 75 meters ahead of 2nd-place Kingsway.

Who ran for the Eagles? Good question. I can tell you junior Olivia Okaro, freshman Jasmine Jackson and sophomore Cinniya Robinson ran the last three legs. Either Adaiah or Amariah Arango led off, but the entry list only shows “A. Arango,” so it could be either one. I’ll wait until someone from Winslow lets me know which freshman raced Saturday and then update the post.

Either way, Adaiah or Amariah led off with a swift 58.06, Okaro ran 61.15, Jackson split 58.84 and Robinson anchored in 60.07.

Winslow also ran hot in the 4-by-2, with Jackson, Okaro, sophomore Skyhe Seamon and freshman Leeya Joseph taking 2nd to Pennsauken in 1:42.97.

Winslow’s 3:58.12 is fastest in New Jersey in the early going this winter, and Pennsauken and Winslow have the two-fastest 4-by-2 times so far.
