Janeya Hammond, a senior at Charlotte from Winslow Township, ran a hurdles PR Saturday in her season opener.
Hammond won the 60-meter highs at the JDL Early Bird Invitational at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem in 8.59.
Her previous PR was 8.68 in the trials of the Conference USA Championships in Feb. 2023 in Birmingham, Ala. She nearly beat her PR in the trials Saturday, advancing with an 8.73.
Hammond’s time is No. 9 in Charlotte history but only 5-100ths of a second outside the No. 5 spot.
